The highest-odds game to play in CPG is to really, really, really figure out 1-2 sales channels. Everything about them. The shopper, the logistics, the trade partner dynamics, all P&L implications. THEN, and only THEN, build products that are a perfect fit for those channels (price pack architecture, callouts/hierarchy, branding, etc). This is dramatically less romantic than the "just build a great product that you're passionate about!" approach, which was the path I pursued and still prefer. But...again...if you're looking for the highest probability hand to play, anchor everything around specific, scalable channels.

1. food trackers mostly work by making u feel bad and bullying you to get to a goal, intuitive eating / body neutrality food app is great <3 2. heart rate and body temp data overrated. actual long term compliance w/ food tracking = far more important health data!
Y Combinator@ycombinator

What’s messing up your tummy? Napkin Math (napkinmath.club) knows. Napkin Math is the hyper-personalized AI food journal that helps people achieve their health goals. Congrats on the launch, @jynniit, @clairen19 & @manny4c! ycombinator.com/launches/QXK-n…

Reading through the replies (bc I went on this journey a month ago and GAVE UP) and lmao I am frankly glad I’m not alone The sandal landscape is bleak. Y’all are recommending 2004 homeschooler shoes with a straight face!
Sophia Benoit@1followernodad

For we are overgrown with information, decorative maybe, but useless in any constructive sense. We must come down to earth from the clouds where we live in vagueness and experience the most real thing there is: material.

Annie has enjoyed affordable housing for 50 years. Her family has benefited to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars from other people paying more to cover the difference in her reduced rent. A rent that isn’t tied to need but to the apartment unit based on when her family moved in. Annie has benefited greatly from this whether she realizes it or not. Good for her. Now get out so someone else can live there instead of assuming the entitlement of owning a piece of property without actually paying for it. The property owner is giving her a new apartment AT THE SAME RENT in another building. This is irrational.
New York Magazine@NYMag

Annie Grossman is deciding whether to leave her $1,300 rent-stabilized two-bedroom in Gramercy, which holds five decades of family history — including two businesses and four marriages. curbed.com/article/holdou…

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Leverage Live is happening! For 6 months I've been trying to answer the most important question in tech: what actually makes a company AI native? So I'm bringing 50 founders + operators to NYC on June 3rd to figure it out. We'll have a panel with @andrew__rea (founder of Taxwire $25M raised) and @bleviathan (Ramp) — two people letting AI agents touch real money. They'll talk about how you need to rebuild you company (culture, ops, and technology) from the ground up for AI agents. Following the discussion we will have all the diet coke, booze, cured meats, and merch you could possibly desire on a Wednesday night. Attendance is completely free, with priority access given to paid subscribers of The Leverage. I can't wait to meet you all!!

insanely stupid gimmick here - an interview with amodei that the kicker reveals is AI generated. honestly I've no idea what the argument is for this: it's not novel or entertaining and seems to piss off both readers and writers. baffling vanityfair.com/news/story/dar…

Hidden on page 744 of the farm bill the House Agriculture Committee passed Thursday is a provision that would condemn millions of pigs to a lifetime in gestation crates. Rebranded the 'Save Our Bacon Act,' it's a pork-industry play to wipe out every state law banning the sale of pork from crated pigs — laws the conservative Supreme Court upheld in 2023. Over 85% of Democrats and Republicans oppose these crates. Voters have backed ballot measures to ban them in state after state. The pork industry knows it can't win a straight vote on this. So it's burying the provision in an 800-page bill and hoping no one notices. Contact your senators and representative today and tell them: oppose the farm bill unless the Save Our Bacon Act is stripped out. You can reach them at senate.gov and house.gov — it takes two minutes and it matters.
