@_PriscillaReiss @BarredinDC I really think That’s because i-82 was a public vote so that needed to be public to get our POV out in the hopes of swaying the results. (Which it did not lol) The crime issue is one that can only be changed by government policies & is therfore discussed directly w/ politicians.

Feels like still a decent chunk of people on social media think DC biz owners are making it up completely that at least some people have told them crime (or at least perception of un-safety) is a reason they stopped going to a spot or less often

@_PriscillaReiss @BarredinDC As public but I’d estimate it’s the #1 or #2 discussed topic on all group calls, meetings, etc where any owners &or council members r involved. It’s a top priority but our voices feel unheard, mostly because it will take a long time to correct the issues/there’s no fast fix!

We’ve had multiple meetings and town halls with the police chief and have voiced our opinions multiple times in many ways to council members. It’s not a ballot issue so it’s not

@npazcruzat @BarredinDC So it was really hard for them to actually find the person who needed help. But I agree that more funding should go into that kind of programming because it’s definitely needed! ❤️

@npazcruzat @BarredinDC DC actually has a group similar to that. I tried to use them several times for a very aggressive unhoused man that was harassing me/us regularly at the bakery and getting more and more violent. Unfortunately they are so under staffed sometimes they would show up 24 hours later

@NotThomasHenry @BarredinDC ITS NOT AN INCREASE. They are already guaranteed $16.10 minimum wage no matter how much they bring in in tips. The business has to match that amount by increasing hourly if they don't make enough in tips.
