@Hasen_Judi@johannosaurus Of course it can't, and there's a big reason behind that: it depends on libraries that are only updated with the operating system, and this isn't a problem with Linux. The point is that Linux doesn't hide it like other operating systems do.
@johannosaurus "since decades" there's a range of versions for applications available for each version of the OS. Like, you would not be able to install this year's git on the 5 year old ubuntu. I don't know if this has changed but have no reason to believe so.
A good linux distro would not need to be constantly updated. Different programs would update independently, not as a whole. The idea of locking program version to operating system versions is the stupidest thing ever. Most programs should install without needing sudo. Settings should be editable via a GUI, and secondarily via a command interface; NOT config files! Text config files are really stupid and the idea should be put to rest.

@levelsio You are confusing private with secure, https and custom DNS is secure but not private. You only have to see that https is a protection in the application layer(7) of internet, behind there are many more where could pass little things.
HTTPS + set custom DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 and your traffic is always private
The sites you visit are then sent to Google or Cloudflare, and HTTPS encrypts the traffic end-to-end
No need for an expensive VPN subscription in most cases
Don't fall for their FUD
