Imagine if AGS did this kind of letter and tweet in Ireland - the utter and absolute meltdown that would ensue. One unavoidable fact I've learned over the last 28 years is that members of the public don't understand what the end outcome of justified police force looks like.

The more troubling thing for FF and FG is that the 32% cited isn't necessarily positive support. Much of it will be the people who for whatever reason believe that the alternatives would be worse and that stable mediocrity is better than a left government.

@Healyhack It is obvious that the late John O Driscoll was well respected and is missed by his colleagues. It was O Driscoll who signed off on a full review of the #SophieToscanduPlantier murder case, and by all accounts, we could finally have answers before the year is out.

@NiallMcConnell5 Here's my thoughts. Where was Chris Duffy when the price of food was skyrocketing the past 2-3 years? Heat or eat was the option, especially for our elderly. The fuel price has a direct impact on him now as a farmer, so he suddenly has concerns for everyone?

@paddymacc1 You've (deliberately?) chosen a photo from an advertisement for their new body armour, where an identity number isn't important, but the epelette is obvious? Look at some of the stills from the protests. You will see their identity number either on their shoulders or chests.

I say this as someone who has tremendous respect for the Gardai, but in law, all members of An Garda Síochána are supposed to have a visible and recognisable identity number on their uniform whilst on duty, so where is it, because without it they're just mercenaries in a uniform

@____theo___ @Ben_Scallan @dunlaoi Indeed, but the point could be argued she had her foot in the door at that stage. Had she not initially been appointed, then it's unlikely she would have tried again or been nominated in 2025. She is not doing herself or any member of her community any favours.

@____theo___ @Ben_Scallan @dunlaoi Yes, she was initially nominated by Micheal Martin. She contested the Seanad election in 2020 but lost and was later appointed one of the Taoiseachs "nominee seats." She was then re-elected in 2025.

Since you ask, it is a criminal offence to obstruct the highway. More important, it is a serious common law offence to organise or agree with others to obstruct the highway or to blockade access to ports and depots. It is the offence of conspiracy. An indictable offence at common law. There is no constitutional right to do so. The State and the Gardai are entitled to clear the highway. Obstructing them is also a criminal offence. Check it out if you doubt me.

My blood pressure yesterday - on the left, after a 31-hour fast. On the right, 12 hours after breaking the fast. I took four readings on each occasion and they were all similar. This is the second time I’ve noticed that fasting regulates my BP, from Hypertension Stage 3 to Normal. Now I know this, I no longer need meds but just need to fast as often as possible!
