🚨 An Ayrshire carer who battered and strangled a dog to death in front of children at a park has been struck off. Aija Cernevica was banned from working in the profession this week. The 30-year-old, of Kilbirnie, is currently serving a three-year- jail sentence for the disgusting attack. She was jailed at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the crime in January. Police were called to the incident after receiving reports of a dog being assaulted at Orr’s Trust Public Park in Beith in May last year. By the time police arrived at the scene, the dog was found dead. The court heard how Cernevica repeatedly struck the dog, which was in her care, with her hands. She then kicked and stamped on it, bit it and seized it by the collar. Cernevica went on to swing the animal across a fence before going on to drag and throw it around the ground in front of horrified children. Evil Cernevica then straddled the dog, pinned it to the ground with her body weight, held it by its throat and strangled it to death. She committed the sickening offence while on bail. The details of the incident were revealed during a Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) hearing this week. The watchdog also revealed that Cernevica was in the possession of five blades when she launched the frenzied attack on the dog. She was removed from the care register indefinitely. A statement from the SSSC reads: "Your actions caused the suffering and death of an animal in your care. You reactions are likely to have caused significant emotional harm to members of the public who may have witnessed your behaviour. You engaged in a course of violent and abusive behaviour over the course of a day, which indicates a pattern. "Your behaviour is indicative of significant attitudinal and values issues which have the potential to place others at risk of serious harm. Your actions amount to a significant abuse of power and trust, albeit that trust was not derived from your registrable role. "The behaviours which led to your convictions were very serious. There are significant public protection concerns arising from your behaviour. We consider the public interest to be high and that the reputation of the profession could be damaged as a result of your behaviour. A finding of current impairment is necessary to maintain confidence in both the social services profession and the SSSC in an effective regulator." It concluded: "A condition would not be appropriate because there are no conditions which could be placed on you which would address why your fitness to practise is impaired. The type of behaviour at issue is not the type of behaviour which Page 5 of 6 conditions would rectify. You are not currently working in the sector. A condition would not be workable or enforceable."

Norway just made a decision that will be remembered for years. The country has officially ended fur farming nationwide. No more mink or foxes will be bred, kept in cages, and killed for clothing. An industry built on animal suffering is now gone. This took years. Investigations exposed what life in fur farms looked like. Animals lived in small wire cages. They could not run, dig, or behave naturally. Many showed clear signs of stress. People saw the reality and spoke up. Public pressure grew. Animal welfare groups kept pushing. More citizens questioned whether fashion could justify that cruelty. Lawmakers responded and passed a ban. Farmers received time to transition and shut down their operations. That process is now complete. This matters. Thousands of animals will not be born into cages. Fewer lives will be treated like products. Norway chose compassion over tradition and profit. The impact also reaches beyond Norway. Decisions like this show other countries that change is possible. They push others to look at their own systems and ask if they still make sense. Consumers are driving this shift too. More people choose alternatives. More brands stop using fur. Demand is changing, and industries are forced to follow. This is what progress looks like. It builds over time through awareness, pressure, and action. Then one day, what once seemed normal is no longer accepted. Norway has drawn that line. #BREAKING🚨: No new animal welfare laws in the King’s Speech. Despite years of promises, key measures like a hunting trophy import ban are still missing. While action stalls, animals suffer. We will continue to speak up for animals. They matter, & must not be forgotten.

🚨BREAKING🚨 The Tories say Rhun ap Iorwerth made it very clear to them Plaid were determined to stitch up the Senedd Presiding Officer role for Labour’s Huw Irranca-Davies. Shameless.
Welsh Conservatives 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿@WelshConserv

Labour and Plaid's stitch-up deal to appoint a Labour Llywydd shows that nothing has changed. @DarrenMillarMS: "It was very clear to me through my discussions with Rhun ap Iorwerth that he was determined that Huw Irranca-Davies would be installed as that particular person."

It’s been a rollercoaster 24 hours for RPD Kenai, who served with North Yorkshire Police. On Sunday evening, he was out for his evening stroll with his new family following retirement when tragedy struck. Whilst chasing his ball, Kenai fractured his elbow. After being admitted to the emergency vets in the early hours, the Foundation arranged for Kenai to be transferred to specialist animal hospital Pennine Referrals, where surgeons operated and repaired the fracture in his leg. He now has a long road to recovery ahead. Jess, his owner, said: “We called the charity from the emergency vets and Kieran kindly arranged for Kenai to be taken to a specialist referral centre nearby and said the Foundation would cover the costs. It’s been a huge weight off our mind. Now we can focus on getting Kenai better and helping with his long rehabilitation.” Kenai’s treatment has cost in excess of £5,000. If you can spare just £1 to help him on his way to recovery, we would be eternally grateful. Donate to his JustGiving page here ➡️ bit.ly/4wrfOzi Wishing you a speedy recovery, Kenai. We are right by your side, every step of the way. 💙🐶🇬🇧🚔

@CllrAledT No doubt you will be in bed with reform causing as much havoc as you can. Same old tories, party before country instead of country before party. The country is Wales, start fighting for Wales as an equal partner in this union that you are so found of and not an after thought.
