One of the best public art projects I've seen. Grim park shelter turned into glorious roman-style mosaic menagerie, by the Hackney Mosaic Project.

🇬🇧 GB News vox pop in Gosport: “Has Brexit been a success?” “It’s gone really bad. Cost of everything’s gone up. People’s lives are miserable.” Blame Brexit? “Oh yes. 100%.” Even on GBeebies, reality slips through every now and then.

@mehdirhasan I think the answer, sadly, is that the years of chaos have progressively reduced the expectations of the electorate to the point where they just assume the next leader will be incompetent and gratefully accept any media output that agrees with their prejudice.

@DanNeidle @alexmassie Not helped by an absence of politicians we can trust who can explain in a grown up way what needs to happen. Lies are easier and get more votes.

@alexmassie Sadly I agree. Anyone doubting it should read the thread. I've lost track of who's winning - the "we can just stop paying for asylum" people or the "we can just print money" people.

Two ways of looking at @ZackPolanski. 1. He offers hope and only way out of our corrupt politics of vested interests. 2. He’ll divide the progressive vote at the next election and Labour will lose. *Problem with 2: Labour isn’t remotely progressive and it’s going to lose anyway.

Wow - how on earth did this get to production without *someone* saying "hang on a second..."?
kurkosdr@kurkosdr

@cursedconnector @vorganicpotato2 There are worse, the ZX80 and ZX81 used a 3.5mm jack for the 9V DC input, which was the exact same 3.5mm jack used for the cassette line-in located millimetres away. One wrong move, and your line-in is toast. So, I hereby request that this becomes the new "chaotic evil".

I visited the waste recycling centre in Leeds a few months ago. What i saw was waste that could be exported or buried, being sorted, sifted, processed, and ready to be transformed into something useful again. Even the material that couldn't be recycled was being turned into high-end aggregate. Waste reused, jobs created, cost of exporting saved. This is a fine example of system design. This loophole needs to be closed, and domestic solutions found so we can bolster green industry domestically theguardian.com/environment/20…

As a doctor I feel so silly saying i have ‘tummy ache’ when i know how to describe it medically But equally saying i have ‘abdominal pain’ sounds so serious/clinical when I’m literally just a girlypop with a sore tummy

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and sympathy regarding my lost property on the train yesterday. Many were strangers offering genuine good advice, or just offering a kind word because, well, kindness needed sometimes innit? Well… It has been handed in. Happy ending.

Think you can spot COVID misinformation? 🤔 I just launched an adaptive exam that tests your ability to separate COVID facts from fiction. It adjusts difficulty in real-time based on your answers. Warning: The results might surprise you. I've seen PhDs score "WhatsApp University Graduate" 😅 Take the test: seanmullen.com/covidcompetenc… Share your badge - I'm curious who scores "Epidemiologist's Nightmare" (perfect score) #COVIDCompetency #ScienceLiteracy #MisinformationTest

@RussInCheshire I guess you’re not on minimum wage, or starting a new job, or a renter with more rights, or at risk of fire & rehire, or on a shrinking waiting list, or have children attending a free breakfast club, or a parent getting free child care, or have kids getting free school meals

@renewablesmiffy @reformparty_uk Much right wing thinking seems to be about returning to the past, which was somehow better. Life was seen as simpler: everyone was the same, electricity came from coal, countries were self sufficient. To believe this requires a limited knowledge of history.

So today, not for the first time, @reformparty_uk have been moaning about our electricity imports from Europe suggesting that it risks our energy security and is the fault of Renewables So let’s add some facts and a huge dose of reality to this populist nonsense 🧵

What a load of bollocks. If you think about it no one is English according to you. At some stage in your ancestry you will have a relative not born in England. That stops every future generation being English. @based_becks

@shitbarrister I try and think of results as a matchmaking exercise. The universities are looking for students who would be a good fit on the courses they want to do, and students are showing which subjects they are good at. Nobody wins if a student starts a course they are not going to enjoy.
