RoboCop flying in RoboCop 3 (1993) is bad on almost every level, yet the movie plays it like a triumphant moment. Still can’t believe they took the ultra-violent ’87 classic and turned it into a PG-13 toy commercial. And why does the window shatter before he even hits it?

@MarioNawfal Every knock off of call of duty begs to Differ. Sold well enough to make money. Plus, all knowledge and creativity is based off of some prior observations. It’s not a leap to “invent” GTA.

The CEO of Take-Two, the company behind GTA, just said something the entire AI industry doesn't want to hear. And he said it without being anti-AI. Strauss Zelnick's argument is precise. AI is built on datasets. Datasets are backward-looking. Creativity is forward-looking. A model trained on everything that already exists cannot, by definition, produce something genuinely unexpected. And all hits, by their very nature, are unexpected. Asset creation and hit creation are not the same thing. AI is getting very good at the first one. The second one is what actually makes money, builds franchises, and changes culture. Nobody has shown AI can do that yet. The derivative property problem is real. You can clone GTA with existing technology. You could do it before AI. It would take 3 years and look identical. It still wouldn't sell. Because it isn't GTA. It's a clone of GTA. And consumers, despite what the industry occasionally pretends, can feel the difference between something genuinely new and something assembled from the residue of things that already worked. Thousands of mobile games ship every year. 0 to 5 hits get made. The same studios make them every time. The technology to make more games has been commoditized for years. It didn't democratize hit creation. It just flooded the market with more forgettable product. The Silicon Valley thesis that AI unlocks game creation for everyone is true in the same way that cheap cameras unlocked filmmaking for everyone. They did. And the same 5 studios still make the movies everyone watches. What Zelnick is saying, without quite saying it, is that the thing AI cannot replicate is taste. The instinct for what hasn't been done yet. The cultural antenna that detects the gap in the market before the data can see it. Data tells you what people wanted. Hits tell people what they want next. Those are different jobs.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

🇺🇸 Tucker lays out the deepest critique of AI yet, and it's not about jobs... His argument: writing produces thinking. You can't formulate a thought without first articulating it. If kids never write because AI writes for them, the quality of human thinking collapses. That's the surface problem. The deeper one is purpose: "The point of living is to create. That's the point of being a human being. It's necessary for joy. There is no joy without creation." If the machine creates everything and humans just consume, you don't get utopia. You get despair, mass unemployment, and eventually political revolution.

Yes. Absolutely yes. While Rielly isn’t great defensively, neither was Nurse. At least Rielly brings an element that Nurse doesn’t have which is a strong transition game and some offense. This would make re-signing Murphy key as that would make for a good second pairing IMO. Rielly also saves $2M on the salary cap.

BILL MAHER: “If there’s one issue which makes me say to the far left, ‘Stop asking me why I make fun of the left more than I used to’ — [Israel] is it. This is why.” “You’re morally goofy. You’re ignorant. You don’t know history. You don’t know the present either.” “They put that whole thing out for the longest time about how Israel was starving the Palestinian people… People were starving because Hamas stole all the food!” FETTERMAN: “Exactly!” MAHER: “Because Hamas wants the people to die. First of all, they love being martyrs. Let’s just not gloss over that.” “That’s part of the whole religion-dominated culture — martyrdom is good… That’s why they strapped bombs to children. Okay?” “So again, you’re morally goofy if this is the team you want to be on.” “And Israel didn’t starve them… No other nation on earth at war would ever be even asked to feed their enemy.”

It's legal for private companies like Anthropic. Their bylaws and stock agreements require board approval for any transfer—standard in startups to control who owns shares. Unapproved sales are void per those contracts and aren't recognized on the cap table. Secondary buyers (via Forge, Hiive, etc.) take on that counterparty risk knowingly. It's not fraud; the company didn't issue those shares to you directly. Public stock is different—this is restricted private equity.

Anthropic just published a support page that should terrify anyone holding its shares on the secondary market. "Any sale or transfer of Anthropic stock, or any interest in Anthropic stock, that has not been approved by our Board of Directors is void and will not be recognized on our books and records." Void. Not restricted. Not pending review. Void. That means if you bought Anthropic shares through Forge, Hiive, or any other secondary platform without board approval, you are not a stockholder. You have no stockholder rights. Your transaction is invalid. It gets worse. Anthropic says it does not permit SPVs to hold its stock. Any transfer to an SPV is void. Investment funds claiming to offer indirect exposure are "most likely relying on mechanisms that attempt to circumvent our transfer restrictions." Forward contracts, tokenized securities, synthetic exposure products, all of it potentially worthless. Their advice to investors: "Assume that it is invalid." There is a multi-billion dollar secondary market in Anthropic shares right now. Platforms are pricing the stock at $265-$1,400+ per share based on a $380 billion valuation. Real people have put real money into these positions. And Anthropic just told them none of it counts. This is the purest possible illustration of counterparty risk. You can buy a share of a company and have the company itself declare your ownership void because you bought it through the wrong channel.

Ralph Baric has never answered this question satisfactorily: Why did he never inform pandemic leaders that his lab and Wuhan bat scientist Shi Zhengli had submitted a proposal to genetically engineer a coronavirus with a furin cleavage site two years before a pandemic caused by a coronavirus with a furin cleavage site erupted in Wuhan, China? Adding a furin cleavage site is a gain-of-function experiment and may be one of the reasons COVID-19 became able to infect humans! Baric’s withholding of this knowledge prevented scientists from realizing early on that COVID-19 was not a typical animal virus that often infects humans poorly, but was likely a coronavirus purposefully engineered to infect humans. Withholding knowledge of these proposed experiments allowed Fauci et al. to cover up his approval of NIH funding for gain-of-function experiments in Wuhan and to deceptively shift blame to the “wet market.” The cover-up would have been less successful had Ralph Baric revealed that scientists in Wuhan were seeking funding for these gain-of-function experiments. realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2026/…

All disagreement with official truths will be considered by those in government to be deliberate misinformation. Some of the most important public political debates of the past decade (for example, around vaccine mandates) involved each side vehemently accusing the other of spreading deliberate, harmful misinformation for financial gain. We saw many governments punishing and limiting speech on precisely that basis even though the speech was on the very most important political decisions of the time, directly impacting elections. Nobody saying something like this could possibly believe in freedom of speech. What they believe is much more sinister. They believe it's important that people *think* others have free speech so they are convinced that they are hearing all sides of an argument while *they* retain control over what political viewpoints are and aren't permitted to be advanced. We see this playing out even today around the most important political issues of the day. For example, immigration policy.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

Freedom of speech is sacrosanct to our democracy. But disinformation is different. It’s bad-faith actors, often based overseas, who are monetising lies and hatred for their own political or financial gain. It’s the opposite of our democratic values.
