@HowEPhil I would bump up North Avenue BRT to Top 5. That's a lot of negotiation with GDOT to get it done, but needs to start ASAP to get it done. There's so much ridership we can get from that route, and crosstown local routes that would also benefit from bus lanes.

Atlanta can deliver vast majority of transit projects on More MARTA list. Takes pulling a few levers, not increasing taxes, & being judicious with both funds & project delivery. No public budget suggests otherwise. Take a look at sample ranked list. Where would you prioritize?

Transit innovation would be figuring out how to deliver Beltline rail at a faster pace so the Eastside, which is most ready for it, and the Southside both get it. And faster builds for safe streets. Innovate with procurement and delivery. Not with untested technologies.

@lymanstoneky @CardmeisterGuy @lawfare podcast had great episode on Ukraine, and part of the drone innovation is that a lot of the advances are made by hobbyists and small groups. Not a big company. Yes to a drone gigafactory for base models, but let thousands of "regular" people innovate extra things.

@cbenderatl Lack of enough housing is likely a major issue. We need zoning reform to allow the market to build, and public housing for people who need it. Expanded heavy rail would help a lot, too.

@ScogginsWi59545 @barely_th3re The buses will be in the toll lanes, which are *supposed to* be dynamically priced to keep vehicles moving at 45+ mph. So buses will go a decent speed. Then dedicated spots at stations. Still. Should have been a train.

Paying for transit... Some want it to be like the library. Everyone pays in, and free for those who use it. Valid idea. I think of it like public water utilities: Widespread taxes can cover some of it, but individuals still pay for what you use. Cheap, but not entirely free.

@laugh_track_nat I watched a lot of cooking videos on YouTube, experimented in the kitchen, and loosely followed recipes from cursory searches or from those YT videos. It was all about practice and giving myself grace to fail. Imperfections in cooking can the best flavour for some.

@CNLiberalism @big_pedestrian Largely agree that water use is a more minor problem in most of the US. Metro Atlanta had both water and energy availability + cost as real issues before data center came in, and now those issues are exacerbated by hyperscalers. So locally you can have a Both And problem.

@IamKingWilliams I use it sometimes, but in a way to celebrate how unreal the city culture can feel. People are out here doing wild things, being themselves, and having fun. I use the phrase as a comment on how unique and authentic the city's culture and people are. Maybe I'm using it wrong?
