Despite helping to care for my uncle when he passed from colon cancer, and watching a dear friend succumb to the same disease, nothing prepared me for the trauma of my husband’s death from prostate cancer. His path from diagnosis to his passing took just one year. It wasn’t supposed to happen that way, but it did. I’m 10 months into the grieving process, and there’s still so much I’m still struggling to come to terms with. This weekend marks the beginning of the end. His rapid decline began when he went to the hospital for the first time on the day before his 61st birthday, one year ago. My family and I will be spending this weekend together at the beach. We will celebrate his first heavenly birthday and try not to dwell on what took place a year ago. His best friend will be there as well. It’s what he would want, laughter, love, memories. Please pray for my family as we enter this difficult season of loss. And if you, too have lost a loved one to this devastating disease, know that you are not alone. Thank you for listening, and for your prayers.

John Thune was elected to be the Senate Majority Leader. Despite holding this influential role he continues to prioritize bipartisan agreements over decisive action on America First priorities such as border security. His pattern of behavior leaves no room for doubt about his true political leanings. He ought to come out and admit that he’s not a Republican.

If someone made a movie set in Africa and based on ancient African folklore, and then populated the cast with white people and other random races and ethnicities that have nothing to do with Africa, everyone would say that the casting is ridiculous and distracting at best (and I would agree). Yet the same thing is done in the reverse to a foundational text of western civilization and even conservatives line up to defend it. It’s pathetic, honestly.

Wow, the last time my wife and I bought a washer and dryer, there was no delivery fee, and they hauled off the old ones for free. Today it was 40 bucks for delivery, and they wanted 80 bucks each to haul the old ones away! That's crazy! I'll haul them to the town dump myself and save the 160 bucks.

Just saw The Odyssey. Despite what you may have heard, literally all of the criticisms by conservatives were entirely correct. The movie is just as woke as you fear, if not more so. The DEI casting is atrocious. Completely takes you out of the story right from the beginning. But even worse than that is Nolan’s decision to turn Odysseus into an anachronistic whiney, solemn shell of a man plagued by “trauma” and guilt. It’s impossible to overlook these flaws because the film itself is not terribly entertaining or well constructed. For the most part it is disjointed, dull, self-serious, disenchanted, somehow feeling both verbose and overly rushed at the same time. The dialogue is some of the worst I’ve ever heard in a “critically acclaimed” film. “On the nose” and “clunky” are descriptions that can’t even begin to describe this script. At no point in the story does Nolan ever transport the audience to the ancient world. You never feel like you’re 3,000 years in the past. You feel like you’re watching modern Americans put on a pageant, because you are. Nobody would be calling this thing a masterpiece if it was made by a director not named Christopher Nolan.
