A lot of people don't realize just how short the Koran is. It's only 78k words. That's the same length as the Torah (the first five books of the Bible).
Stephen King's Salem's Lot is almost twice as long. Even The Hobbit is 20% longer than the Koran. No wonder Islamic scholars are (sometimes) able to memorize the whole thing.
Of course length is no guide to a religious text's truth. I remember reading that during the Spanish Civil War, a company of Republicans used a university library as a strongpoint. They stacked up volumes of Hindu metaphysics as bulwarks and reported they were quite bulletproof.

I love reading books where you know the author is well-read. It shows in their writings, and how they would reference so-and-so's works without making it seem boring or pretentious. It's like the books they've read are ever-present in their lives, it will come up so casually
