@RapidResponse47 @POTUS Same line my wife used when she wanted a bigger house after our third kid was born.
English

.@POTUS: "We want a piece of ice for world protection... We’ve never asked for anything else—and we could have kept that piece of land, and we didn't. So, they have a choice. You can say yes, and we will be very appreciative. Or you can say no, and we will remember."

I was living in a cinder block warehouse when we first started dating. We went out on a date one night and she looked stunning, pure class. When we got back, the water was off and so the bathroom wasn’t working. She went out into the yard and relieved herself out there. I thought, “damn, if she can look like that and handle this without a second thought, that’s wife material.”
English

@Austen Just watched it for this purpose over Christmas. All I can tell you is that my kids won’t be able to handle the Uruk Hai and Gollem until they like 20.

I stole this parenting trick from the government.
And it's eliminated 90% of power struggles with my kids.
Here's how it works:
My 5-year-old used to fight me EVERY NIGHT about brushing teeth.
"No! I don't want to!"
"You have to!"
Meltdown. Tears. Exhausting.
Then I changed one thing:
Instead of "Go brush your teeth," I said:
"Do you want to brush teeth before or after pajamas?"
He thought about it. "After."
Done. No fight. Teeth got brushed.
What changed?
He felt like HE was making the decision.
But I was controlling both options.
It's the illusion of choice. And it's genius.
Now I use it everywhere:
"Do you want to clean your room now or after snack?"
"Do you want to wear your blue shirt or red shirt?"
"Do you want to do homework before or after dinner?"
Same outcome. Zero power struggle.
The government uses this on adults all the time:
"Do you want Candidate A or Candidate B?"
(Both serve their agenda)
If it works on adults, it DEFINITELY works on kids.
Give them choices within boundaries.
They feel empowered. You stay in control.

@GovRonDeSantis @USTermLimits But why is that? It's weird right? Money? Human psychology... why?
English

Tonight, I joined @USTermLimits to urge legislators from around the country to back efforts to adopt a U.S. constitutional amendment establishing congressional term limits.
Congress is simply no longer working for the American people and is incredibly unpopular. Unfortunately, entrenched incumbents are nearly impossible to unseat, as 9 out of 10 incumbents win re-election every year despite more than 2/3 of Americans disapproving of Congress.
States have the authority to enact term limits, and we need to get it done!

There comes a time in nearly every rocketship startup’s life when it hires a bunch of highly charismatic optics-obsessed executives with A+ resumes too quickly.
It typically takes the founder(s) 1-2 years to see the mistake and at least 1 year to unwind the mistake.
This is almost a rite of passage for silicon valley rocketships. Thing is, some recover fully from this mistake. Some don't, and it undermines their future trajectory.

@elonmusk I live in Spain and I had to show my ID to vote for my local school board. This is not hard and should not be controversial.
English

Because they want to commit voting fraud
Mila Joy@Milajoy
I show my ID to fly. I show my ID to drink. I show my ID to drive. I show my ID to marry. I show my ID to buy weed. I show my ID to gamble. I show my ID to get Benadryl. I show my ID to work. Why in the hell wouldn’t I need an ID to vote?

@jeffreytucker @grok Ha! Where you been on this one Jeffrey! It’s the best use case for AI actually.
English

Just thought of a mind-blowing use case for @grok: as a tutor for holes in your knowledge. I asked about grammar. Grok is ready to go. What can this possibly imply for the future of teaching and tutoring? Consider too that you can use voice mode. Astounding.

I’ve been down with the flu the last couple days, so this is late, but important. I wanted to share what I’m grateful for this year.
First, my family. My wife and our four kids are the center of my life. The last few years I’ve been working hard to dial back the instinct to over-rotate on work and accomplishments. When I zoom out and think about minimizing regret at the end of my life, the answer is obvious. My marriage and my children are the greatest gifts I’ll ever have. Nothing else is close.
I’m grateful I was born in a country that gives ordinary people extraordinary opportunity. I don’t take that for granted. It’s a gift that’s too easy to underestimate. It’s a privilege to be alive at this moment in history.
I’m grateful for the chance to work on a problem that actually matters, with operators I respect, inside a mission that could bend the world in the right direction if we get it right. That kind of work is rare.
I’m grateful to be alive during a technological revolution. I still remember the first time I saw Netscape. What’s happening with AI dwarfs that moment. Being able to help shape even a small part of where this goes is something I don’t take lightly.
I’m grateful for the Open Army and the shareholders who put their trust in us. Your energy, ideas, and commitment are a real source of motivation. I feel a responsibility to earn that trust every day.
I’m grateful for my health. This flu knocked me down, but it reminded me how much my mind depends on my body. My goal is a long health span and the ability to show up with energy for the people who depend on me.
Mostly, I’m grateful for the moment. The challenges, the opportunity, the feeling that preparation and timing are starting to line up. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. It feels like that kind of time.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Onward.

@danshipper Absolutely. Recovering addict here. Took a month off and now I’m scared to start again, it might come back even stronger.
