Tanzania (!) made a push last week at a food-safety conference for worldwide standard warning labels on alcohol, part of the WHO's plan to reduce alcohol consumption by 20% by 2030. Mexico stepped up and said, "Hands off our Tequila, gringos locos." wine-searcher.com/m/2026/05/mexi…

Ontario spending $20 Million a year to store US alcohol taxpayers already spent nearly $80 million on. Here's an idea: Grow the fuck up, put it back on the shelves, and let Ontarians decide if they want to buy it or not. cbc.ca/news/canada/on…

Last week a federal judge questioned whether Ohio actually has a three-tier system for wine. As the Supreme Court considers another wine-shipping case, we look at how cheap beer in the 1890s led to the convoluted three-tier system we have today. wine-searcher.com/m/2026/05/is-u…

A federal appeals court ruled this week that Ohio's ban on out-of-state retailers shipping wine is unconstitutional. The opinion is provocative and strikes right at the idea of a three-tier system. Next stop, the Supreme Court? wine-searcher.com/m/2026/05/wine…

@USAlcoholPolicy Of course it should not since the absolute risk of cancer from moderate consumption is tiny.

Drinking alcohol is associated with the increased risk of illness. Quitting alcohol is associated with the increased risk of wellness.

@AkesoSobriety I think you mean “Quit ABUSING” alcohol. Because that glass of Pinot with your grilled salmon is part of what makes life divine!

Unhappy? Quit alcohol. Unreliable? Quit alcohol. Unhealthy? Quit alcohol. Uninspired? Quit alcohol. Unenergized? Quit alcohol. Unsuccessful? Quit alcohol. A transformation that is unbeatable.

@Ayesha7w @rabataller @EASLedu @AEEHLiver @fscarfe All cause mortality is lower among those who drink moderate amounts of alcohol. Plus, you don’t cite the absolute risk of alcohol linked cancers…which is extremely small. All this tells us you are a propagandist, not someone providing truths.

Alcohol is a carcinogen. Patients with alcohol liver disease (ALD) have higher cancer risk. A large meta-analysis shows >2x increased risk of de novo malignancies in ALD patients after liver transplantation. 👉 We need systematic, intensified cancer surveillance.

@DreadyNaz Actually, the science shows that those who drink in moderation have lower all cause mortality than those that don’t drink at all.

A few simple facts that we all know. 1. You can't get drunk if you don't drink 2. Sober people don't get DUIs, DWIs or PIs 3. You don't get hangovers if you don't drink 4. It's impossible to get into a bar fight with a drunk if you don't go to bars 5. Sober people live longer

@guyfelicella @fscarfe No one takes seriously these hysterical claims. Moreover, it’s suspicious that no room is made for the difference between responsible alcohol consumption and excessive consumption. Anyone comparing a glass of wine to meth should be ignored.

Watch this 👇🏼 Alcohol is legal, normalized, advertised, and socially accepted. It also causes more harm to society than tobacco, opioids, cocaine, crystal meth, crack, and prescription opioids. All normalized. That should disturb more people than it does.

@Sober_lifestyl It causes no such thing any more than water causes drowning. Alcohol is dangerous when consumed excessively.
