@tuckedupp @tabletmag I believe what has happened was that 7/10 has allowed those (mostly on the left) who have previously harboured racist views, has now given them the green light to be open about their racism, but excused from traditional opinions to what to be racist constituted- ie traditional.

@tabletmag I think Oct. 7 didn’t create it so much as bring it into the open. Things that used to stay on the fringes are now being said and done openly — on the streets, on campuses, and online. The scale and confidence of it feels very different now.

Nor was the gathering cancelled because the police are now investigating the extremist nature of the group. The cancellation was due to the venue being unable to 'guarantee a safe space...for the event'. Not only did The Old Print Works seem happy to accept a booking from a violent anti-Semitic hate group, but they were then prepared to imply that the real threat was to this same hate group. Despite the first venue pulling out, and a police investigation being underway, a new venue has stepped in to host the extremists — The Moseley Exchange. In addition, the ticketing platform Eventbrite is still happy to promote the event. Mark Birbeck, Our Fight director said: "It is sad for the people of Birmingham that after the Maccabi Tel Aviv ban, the city is playing host to another story with anti-Semitism at its core. But the best bit is that the OPW is just as expensive to rent as any other venue minus any hipsters.
