@deeptocenter Just need Jung to do enough wherever he is to be able to deal him at the deadline for a key piece.

If you felt good enough about the outfield, there’s an argument to be made for Jace Jung to make the team over Meadows. Baez and Vierling hold down CF and McKinstry plays more in RF.
This I think is unlikely, but Jung has had such a good Spring he deserves consideration.

@deeptocenter Exactly. Not sure why this is so difficult for people to understand. These games are fun to watch and all but they mean nothing. It's not the Olympics or the World Cup. It's an event MLB made up for $$$.

To recap: A blown 30-point lead and a blown 15-point lead in less than a week. 10-28 in the last two seasons in the A-10. Two straight awful seasons. Three of the last four. But sure, let's just keep the same leadership. This is insanity.

@TigersJUK I imagine JV wanted a starting spot, whereas Anderson clearly wasn't guaranteed one and was just happy to take the $7M and hope for the best.

I noticed this too from the JV presser.
He said he called right after the season ended, but the Tigers went out and immediately signed Drew Anderson from the KBO instead.

Justin Verlander clearly wanted to return to Detroit. So I’m not sure why that didn’t happen when Scott Harris signed a broken down Alex Cobb. Or when he added Chris Paddock. Or Charlie Morton. Or even Drew Anderson for 7 million this offseason. If not for the Reese Olson injury this doesn’t happen. And I really dont understand anything that led up to that point.

Right-hander Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year contract. Verlander, 43 next week, returns to the team with which he spent his first 13 seasons and whose hat he'll wear in the Hall of Fame.
