@dave_mcpartlin It’s obvious as a bystander that there are great teachers and great schools , then there are the school which flash their Ofsted ‘ excellent ‘ like a badge of honour . We know who works harder and are more inclusive, love their job and the kids . Ofsted can do one !

It's all school leaders in disadvantaged areas are talking about - we're totally disillusioned and angry about it all. We deserve encouragement, support and recognition - not a kicking whilst down.
Ruth Swailes@SwailesRuth

Recently I've been speaking to lots of leaders who have taken on schools that need to improve, and who have moved mountains in a short period of time, but who are resigned to the fact that no matter how much they do, their next inspection report will have "orange dots" no matter

Responding to Sir Martyn Oliver’s claim that the new framework is “more exacting”, Paul Whiteman, NAHT general secretary, said that school leaders already deliver the highest aspirations for every child. Yet Ofsted has confirmed its new model will see more schools hit with a ‘needs attention’ grade than the old ‘requires improvement’, ratcheting up pressure at a time of immense challenge. #bbclaurak on SEND: "Will any child who currently receives support lose it.." Bridget Phillipson: "We are not going to be taking away effective support from children.." "That's not the same as saying that no child who receives support wont lose it" "Children will be reviewed"

🚨 NEW: The Government has outlined reforms to schools: - Introduce a tiered system for disadvantage funding based on household income so schools with the poorest pupils receive more money - Increase maternity pay for teachers and support staff - Offer up to £15,000 to new headteachers who take jobs in hard-to-staff areas - Overhaul the SEND system to allow earlier support and 60,000 new places - Create standard "School Profiles" to show information on attendance and results to parents - Set national minimum standards for how schools communicate and engage with parents

@AdamHighcliffe It’s Gove’s MAT vision, enacted by Labour. I never thought I’d see the day. This government has been such a disappointment for so many Labour voters.

Bridget Phillipson using the example that a child with an #EHCP who receives speech and language therapy, mainstream schools will be much more able to deliver this provision is hilarious. Where is she finding these therapists? How many hats is she expecting mainstream to wear?

If the SEND leaks are true I really worry where this will leave families, children & schools. I question/worry about… - A return to action/action + under a new name - Who will determine a child’s SEND needs - The workload of SENDCos

Once again the Department that’s focussed on education and created a whole charter on Workforce Wellbeing, has continued to ignore workforce wellbeing by publishing documents on the last Friday of the longest term. Make it make sense, please. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6194eb37…

People in England never go get a tea or a coffee without asking you if you would like one too. And i just want to say that those small gracious gestures are so lovely & meaningful.

#bbclaurak Starmer. Stop solving symptoms. Breakfast club DOES NOT solve child poverty. This puts pressure on schools which are already at breaking point. Earlier nursery places does not solve children arriving at school not toilet trained. SureStart were doing a great job.

Anon post: Is there a legal requirement for how many staff must hold first aid and paediatric first aid training? In the past, everyone has been trained, but many staff are now due for retraining — and the cost of training everyone is significant. What’s the expectation?
