When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.

The Presidio is one of the most successful examples of mixed use public lands. Trump firing the board of the Presidio Trust is potentially the first sign of tech oligarchs working with Trump to turn the Presidio into a "Freedom City."
But we can fight it. The Presidio Trust Act mandates that the land be managed for clear public purpose and remains open and free. The city owns the infrastructure heading into the park. We cannot allow Trump to destroy one of our greatest public spaces in San Francisco.
