Any claim that the CMCC is closing is wrong. The CMCC is advancing its efforts every day to continue delivering aid at a level unprecedented in modern history:
- Food aid is reaching 3x more people than before
-Aid diversion has dwindled from 90% to less than 1%
- According to the United Nations, nutrition has improved dramatically
The CMCC also has played a critical role in advancing security. The ceasefire has continued to hold despite all the predictions from so-called experts. We now have a pathway to the establishment of a transitional government in Gaza and the International Stabilization Force. Quite simply, life for the people of Gaza gets better on a daily basis. The CMCC has been an essential part of this story and will continue to be mission critical to our efforts.

Lebanon is being pushed into negotiations it did not choose, on terms it did not write, over a war it does not control.
Some of the key points from the article I had the pleasure of working on with @rayajalabi:
• Lebanon was largely sidelined in diplomacy over its own war, with key decisions shaped in Washington rather than Beirut.
• Trump publicly announced a Lebanon-Israel call before President Joseph Aoun had agreed to it, exposing how little control Beirut had over the process.
• Lebanese officials say the 10-day ceasefire happened because the US and Iran wanted it, not because Lebanon shaped it.
• Direct Lebanon-Israel talks are moving forward under heavy US pressure, while Beirut has little leverage over the agenda.
• Aoun and Nawaf Salam are pushing to bring all arms under state control, but the state still lacks both the political consensus and the coercive power to confront Hezbollah.
• Hezbollah, despite heavy losses, remains deeply influential and has used the negotiations to intensify criticism of the government.
• The ceasefire terms themselves reflect Lebanon’s weak position: Israel can keep operating under “self-defence”, while the Lebanese army cannot.

Lebanon stands at a crossroads. Its people have a historic opportunity to reclaim their country and shape their future as a truly sovereign, independent nation.
Direct engagement between Lebanon and Israel, two neighboring countries that should have never been at war, can mark the beginning of a national revival. The extended Cessation of Hostilities, achieved at the personal request of President Trump, has given Lebanon the space and the opportunity to put all of its legitimate demands on the table with the full attention of the United States Government.
A direct meeting between President Aoun and Prime Minister Netanyahu, facilitated by President Trump, would give Lebanon the chance to secure concrete guarantees on full sovereignty, territorial integrity, secure borders, humanitarian and reconstruction support, and the complete restoration of Lebanese state authority over every inch of its territory—guaranteed by the United States.
This is Lebanon’s moment to decide its own destiny, one which belongs to all its people. The United States is ready to stand with Lebanon as it seizes this opportunity with confidence and wisdom. The time for hesitation is over.
