@PropJoshD I've seen some smart brokers keeping lower volume [under 500oz] on full leverage then scaling larger positions on lower leverage

The thing about gold right now is that lower leverage will only exacerbate the problem. Traders typically make more money on lower leverage (brokerage data). If gold is stinging the only option is halting trading on the asset. If you run a broker increasing leverage would potentially achieve the better outcome especially in whipsaw.

I am down 5 figures in real cash and 7 figures in prop firm challenges failed already just in 2026

@RamboToken @funded_trading Depends on the model but some of them have high pass rates impossible payouts. The rules shouldn’t change so dramatically between challenge and funded but some of them aren’t even the same program in the end

FTMO released a new 1-step challenge, and it might be the best one out now. Here's what I found. It has a huge 10% maximum drawdown, much more than the competition with 3-6%. But the drawdown is trailing, based on EOD balance. It also has a 50% best day rule, stating that a trader's single most profitable day cannot exceed 50% of the total profit. If this is broken, you must keep trading to pass. However, this can be passed naturally with 3 profitable days of similar gains. News trading is allowed during the evaluation, but not on the funded account. Weekend holding is not allowed, as the 1-Step is not offered in the swing variation. I believe its main competitor is the FundedNext Stellar 1-Step, with static 6% maximum drawdown and no consistency rules.
