In a world where young men are learning “toxic masculinity” from Andrew Tate, thank God for men like Gary Woodland. You can be a big dude with 196 mph ball speed, a world-class athlete, and still be vulnerable. That’s healthy masculinity—and it should be celebrated.

But the country is not being run on the basis of what we need. It is run for political & private commercial interests. When you have absolutely no political vision or ideals, & are simply in power to be in power, whether or not we train more doctors is just politics🤷‍♀️
Annabel Denham@AnnabelDenham1

This is absurd. If we need 4,000 training places we should have them. If we don’t, the Prime Minister shouldn’t be offering them as a bribe paid for by the taxpayer.

WHAT I’M READING: “Golden Sun” is the 2nd book in a mind-blowing cycle by @Pierce_Brown. It’s a sci-fi series that reads like fantasy. The first book is called “Red Rising” and it’s sort of like Hogwarts meets “Kindgom of Heaven”. It’s fantastic. Pick it up.

There aren’t many opportunities for the LPGA to capture new fans. When one of the best players to ever play the game has the chance to do something extraordinary, the tour must abandon whatever else is going on and capitalize. That didn’t happen today. Lydia Ko was 10 under through 15 holes, which means she had to birdie the last three to become only the second player in LPGA history to shoot 59.  The LPGA was not on TV at the time and was not streaming. The tour did nothing to let fans know this was going on. Didn’t post on X. Didn’t send a scoring link or a photo.  I actually tagged the LPGA on X asking for updates! Send someone out to let us know what’s going on! Post videos in the moment from a phone! At the very least alert fans of the moment. There was no lead-up to what could’ve been an historic day on the LPGA. No building of suspense. Why isn’t the LPGA waving its hands saying, “Over here! Look at us!” It’s Opening Day for MLB and March Madness. The LPGA needs something special to break through and Lydia was delivering it! To the tour’s credit, they did send along a Zoom link so a couple of us could get on and ask Lydia questions. Two national reporters and two LPGA staffers asked Ko about her round. With so little media coverage – both on the ground and away –  the LPGA must get better at telling the story in real time to drive an audience. The tour’s first mention of Ko on X came after her round. They posted a scorecard that required a magnifying glass to see that she’d shot 60. Two hours later, there’s one video clip of Ko’s putt missing on the seventh, and that’s it as far as action from the day. No video clips from her presser. A grand total of three tweets and one Instagram post. It has to get better and not by inches … by miles. (📸 Getty Images)

Under Rachel Reeves' plans, you and your family will spend almost £40,000 on fuel duty over your lifetimes. And to pay for what? More benefits for those who don't work, and more cash for energy policies that drive up your bills. It's completely ridiculous.

🧵 THE TRUTH ABOUT UK IMMIGRATION. A thread. 1/ Politicians are telling you Britain is being "overwhelmed" by immigration. Reform say it's out of control. So let's look at what the official data actually shows. Every figure in this thread is sourced. Check them yourself. 2/ LEGAL IMMIGRATION. In the year ending June 2025, 898,000 people arrived in the UK. 693,000 left. Net migration: 204,000. That's two thirds lower than the same period a year earlier. Source: ONS, Long-term International Migration, November 2025. 3/ The peak was 944,000 net migration in the year ending March 2023. Under the Conservatives. It has fallen sharply since. Source: ONS / House of Commons Library. 4/ Who is actually coming here legally? 41% — university students. 13% — workers. 13% — partners or children of work migrants. 14% — asylum seekers. Source: ONS / Migration Observatory, Oxford University. 5/ Let that sink in. Over half of all legal arrivals are students or workers. People filling NHS rotas, care homes, university lecture theatres. The Health and Care visa alone fell 89% from its 2023 peak. Source: Home Office Immigration Statistics, year ending September 2025. 6/ ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. Around 46,000 people arrived via unauthorised routes in 2025. 89% crossed by small boat. Since 2018, 196,067 have crossed the Channel in total. Source: Home Office / House of Commons Library, March 2026. 7/ Who are they? In 2025 the top nationalities were Eritrean (18%), Afghan (11%), Iranian (11%), Sudanese (11%), Somali (9%). 76% were adult men. 12% were children. Source: Home Office Immigration Statistics. 8/ What happened to their claims? Since 2018, 95% of small boat arrivals claimed asylum. Of those whose cases were decided, 63% were granted protection. Source: House of Commons Library, March 2026. 9/ The human cost of the crossing itself: In 2024, 73 people died attempting to cross the Channel. A record. Five times more than the year before. 147 confirmed deaths between 2018 and April 2025. Source: Migration Observatory, Oxford University. 10/ THE HONEST PICTURE. Legal immigration is falling — sharply. It is dominated by students, workers and dependants. Illegal crossings, while historically high, represent a small fraction of total arrivals. The majority of those who cross and claim asylum are found to need protection. 11/ The political narrative deliberately conflates legal and illegal immigration to manufacture a single crisis. The data tells a more complicated — and more honest — story. Sources: ONS, Home Office, House of Commons Library, Migration Observatory Oxford, GOV.UK. 12/ Reform UK is the party currently screaming loudest about immigration. They are also the party whose ownership structure lists no individual as ultimately in control. Make of that what you will.

He took the greatest military force in world history, lost a war to a middle power in a week, begged the world to save him, and demanded that the media lie about this and everything else. I try, but at a simple human level I do not see how anyone can mistake this man’s almost supernatural weakness for strength. His weakness is something negative, gravitational, so deep that it can draw in a whole country. But only if we fail to see it. Only if we let it.

🚨🚨🇺🇸 USA Falls Off the Democracy Map. For the first time in 50 years, the United States no longer appears on the list of liberal democracies. In a single year, the country has fallen from 20th to 51st place. The V-Dem Institute calls it one of the most dramatic declines ever recorded. The fall does not happen in a vacuum. Brendan Carr is not among the most recognizable names in Trump’s orbit, but the head of the federal media regulator FCC made waves this weekend with a direct threat to the country’s broadcasters. Networks spreading what he called fake news were told they have an opportunity to correct course before their license renewals come up. The message was plain enough: fall in line, or face the consequences. Staffan Lindberg, founding director of the V-Dem Institute, is blunt about what this means. Across so many dimensions, the retreat has been so severe that the United States can no longer be counted as a democracy. The term he uses is “electoral autocracy” – a system without genuine democracy that still goes through the motions of holding elections. Like Putin’s Russia. What concerns him most: the assault on free speech, illustrated by the FCC chief’s latest threat. An extreme concentration of power in the president’s hands. A Congress that, in Lindberg’s words, has abdicated. And Trump’s use of paramilitary forces in American cities – ICE soldiers who killed two civilian protesters this past winter. “The United States used to talk about being a global beacon for democracy and freedom,” Lindberg says. “That idea has now been erased.” Read the full V-Dem Democracy Report 2026: v-dem.net/documents/75/V… Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

The most important Oscar speech tonight wasn’t about film. The director of “Mr. Nobody Against Putin” just said this from the stage: “You lose your country through countless small acts of complicity. When we act complicit when a government murders people on the streets. When oligarchs take over the media and control how we produce and consume it. We all face a moral choice. But even a nobody is more powerful than you think.” He was talking about Russia. The audience knew he was talking about America too. Elon Musk owns the platform you’re reading this on. David Ellison is buying CNN — Pete Hegseth said it will be “far better” when he does. The DOGE deposition videos were removed from YouTube. The Epstein files are sealed. The Pentagon won’t release a casualty count. Countless small acts of complicity. That’s how you lose it. A nobody is more powerful than you think. Never stop connecting the dots.

@NTPGolf66 @mwstock @hannahbggg @LETgolf @WPGATour In this case top 20 private golf club is code for a lot of old white men still thinking they should be able to tell women how to dress. There is nothing wrong with what she's wearing, if this is the biggest thing you have to worry about in life then thank your lucky stars.

@mwstock @hannahbggg @LETgolf @WPGATour It's a top 20 private golf club with dress regulations. Every single player adhered to the regulations except for one who missed the cut. She wouldn't turn up today in that kit because she would get kicked off the property so why do it when the women's Australian Open is on.
