A 19-year-old boy in Nigeria was caught running a Facebook scam where he sold “human body parts” to Yahoo Boys who believed they were buying ingredients for money rituals. He pretended to be a 70-year-old herbalist. Two Facebook accounts. Over 3,000 followers between them. A thick Ibadan accent on the phone. Called his clients “Omo mi.” My child. His name is Promise Oyewole. He ran the scam for months before a journalist tricked him into a WhatsApp video call and screenshotted his face. A background check on his bank account matched the screenshot. The 70-year-old herbalist was a teenager. His price for the charm called Osole Gbigbona was N95,000. Negotiated down to N40,000. Paid in instalments. After every payment, he called back demanding more money for “a sacrifice he saw in a dream.” He was not the only one. In the same investigation, another herbalist in Ibadan, a 30-year-old named Oladipupo Olalere, was running the same business offline. His shrine sat in Oja-Oba. Dimly lit room. Fetish objects wrapped in red cloth. Dust on the tables. A cream curtain in the corner hiding something nobody was allowed to see. Over 4,000 Facebook followers. He posted photos of his happy customers on his timeline. His price for the same charm: N250,000. Made with human parts. “You will see money and become afraid,” he said. Asked where he gets the body parts, he said his suppliers harvest them from accident victims, dead bodies, herb sellers, and old members of the Oodua People Congress. When the journalist asked if he could buy just a single human toe, he made one phone call. “N50,000. I can bring it to Lagos today. Delivery fee N5,000.” He was negotiated down to N40,000. For one human toe. Between January 2018 and December 2021, an estimated 150 women and girls were killed for ritual purposes in the Niger Delta region alone. In January 2022, more than 10 girls were killed for rituals in Ogoja town, Cross River State. Their organs were harvested. On February 7, 2022, an 80-year-old woman in Olomoro town, Delta State, was killed and her body parts taken. A young man in Owerri tried to kill his own mother for the same purpose. Nigerian police arrested 15 suspects in the South West in six months. All confessed. The Amotekun commander in Oyo State said some of these ritualists do not even kill. They track recent burials and dig up fresh graves at night. The Facebook scammers are one layer. The real killers sourcing body parts are another. Both are still operating today. 💀💔🇳🇬

Sometime last year, there was an incident in Warri. These "Tony Starks" were walking around the area, doing their thing. That particular part of Warri was celebrating their "juju" which flags people whom they meet along the road. These juju don't flog school children on uniforms, old people, pregnant women and uniformed men and women. When this particular Tony Starks was advancing towards the area the juju was patrolling, some "aboki" guys who had shops around there warned him, but he didn't listen. I stood at a strategic angle where I was sure to see every action poised to happen that afternoon. As he walked close to the juju... Bro the whipping was swift and massive. Tony Starks left his 'truck' and ran as fast as his legs could carry. The juju chased him relentlessly and after a while, the juju came back alone... Tony Starks? Disappeared, but not with jazz. Everyone kept laughing while some held out their phones to record. It was fun to watch... But I wasn't having that 'fun'. Why? Tony Starks knew how to outmanoeuvre a juju in his own Terroritry. He knew the out sketch of Warri more than the son of the soil who is supposed to be grounded. I became more aware that we are ignorant of these Fulani guys. They come into your land and infiltrate your bushes, streets, towns and even communities. They know the ground more than you know your map. This isn't coincidence. It's a very calculated act. And the fact that we have this "I don't care" attitude, shows that we are already conquered. Wake up!

🚨💔 Eduardo Camavinga broke down in Munich and could not stop crying after the red card at the Allianz. When he entered the dressing room, the noise from his teammates suddenly went quiet when they saw how devastated he was. He was uncontrollably crying, like a player who knew he had made a mistake that changed the tie. The pressure has taken its toll. His game, once confident and sharp, has become less accurate. He knows his name is on the market and that chances at a club like Real Madrid are not endless. Inside the dressing room, the squad supported him. His teammates stayed by his side in what is likely his toughest moment since joining the club. Still, the image of Munich, Camavinga in tears, left a mark. Because beyond the result, it hurt everyone to see one of the squad’s happiest players fall like that. @marca

This is exactly the same thing I’ve been thinking about for a while. It appears like we’ve confused good policy design with good policy outcomes. Subsidy removal, FX liberalisation, tax reforms and those “hard economic policies” sound good and they appear correct on paper. But these policies assume a functioning safety net, productive capacity that can absorb the shock, and a state that reinvests the savings into the people. Strip those away and you’re not implementing any reform, you’re just transferring pain downward which is what this administration has been doing. Three years in and the people have not benefited from these policies. Commodity prices up 3–4x, school fees unaffordable but ofc, there is NELFUND lol, real wages destroyed. The “savings” from subsidy removal haven’t visibly returned to citizens in any form. Good policies without structural follow-through aren’t good policies. They’re just austerity disguised as improvements and we all would be used as collateral damages for the perceived improvement.

Something about Nigeria’s economy isn’t adding up. Good policies but fragile reality. What are the warning signs? Watch the full breakdown: youtu.be/lIr4ScQy8sg

Skyway Aviation Handling Company, NAHCO, was today's biggest gainer at 10 percent, closing at 220 naira. NAHCO handles ground operations for flights at Nigerian airports. Every plane that lands in Nigeria needs NAHCO or a company like it. As Nigerian air travel grows, as the Dangote refinery begins supplying jet fuel regionally, as the economy opens further, NAHCO processes more aircraft. More aircraft means more revenue. More revenue means more value for shareholders. Sometimes the best investments are not the companies you see. They are the infrastructure behind the companies you see.

🚨 This was the most insane single day in American foreign policy in a generation and most people missed half of it.. > Iran agreed to suspend its entire nuclear program — indefinitely.. > Iran agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again.. > zero dollars changed hands.. no frozen funds.. no pallets of cash.. > the US naval blockade on Iran stays up until the final deal is signed.. > Trump publicly ordered Israel to stop bombing Lebanon — used the word PROHIBITED in all caps.. > Netanyahu went on live TV and admitted he was acting on a US request.. > Defense Minister Katz got overruled within hours after saying Lebanon ops "have not yet been completed".. > a 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire took effect overnight.. displaced Lebanese civilians started walking back to their villages.. > oil dropped 12% in minutes.. global equities surged.. > Iran's Foreign Minister declared the Strait of Hormuz "completely open" — first time since March 27.. all of this.. one Friday.. if you're not following me you're finding out about this 48 hours late from someone who read my post..

Today, we visited this facility that we may likely use for our first cohort for Igbo Apprenticeship redesign project in Enugu. The empty land beside it will be used for the warehouse construction. The warehouse is for plumbing, welding, bricklaying, auto mechanics etc trainings.

You want to eat amala with goat meat. You saw mamaput opposite your street, you did not go there. You saw Amala republic restaurant at ikotun, you did not go there. You saw Amala Nation restaurant in oshodi, you did not go there. You now walked into Lagos Continental Hotel and order for "Yoruba Heritage Yam Purée with Velvet Jute Mallow & Slow-Braised Goat". Now you're complaining that your amala is 250k. Madam, enjoy your yam puree ooo.

Nigeria now owes $51.86 billion in foreign debt. A year ago, it was $45.8 billion. Breakdown: World Bank: $24 billion Eurobonds: $18.55 billion China: $5.5 billion About 30% of this year's budget will go to paying back debt. Not building roads. Not schools. Just paying what we owe.

I’m actually tired at this point Real Madrid came into this game 2-1 down and STILL turned it around… 3-2 up vs Bayern Munich at the Allianz. Arda Guler dropped a masterclass with 2 goals (including a freekick), Kylian Mbappe added another with an Assist from Vinicius … everything was going right. Then Eduardo Camavinga came on in the 61st minutes and got SENT OFF in the 86th minutes, that's just 25 minutes of play… TWO yellow cards… RED CARD … GAME GONE. Wasted all the players EFFORTS. From 3-2 up to losing 4-3. Just like that. This is exactly why Arbeloa doesn’t like playing him. You can’t keep making costly mistakes at this level. I’m done defending Camavinga. At this point, sell him at the end of the season. Enough is Enough.
