🚨Some GOOD media news: We're using the money we raised last year to double the size of our team by the end of 2024, hiring journalists in Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool and... London.
Yes, the time has come - as reported by today's @FT.

Once those have been eliminated, their extraversion predicts very long lives, because there’s a correlation between optimism and health, and extraverts are the great optimists.

🚨 OK, I need your help. Andy Burnham's advisor Sacha Lord is threatening to sue @ManchesterMill.
So we're publishing the document at the heart of the story - and asking for your help with a 'community fact-check'.
My editor's note. Pls share.

@IonaItalia Doesn’t help that antisemitism is baked into the second most widely practiced religion in the world.

Some very exciting news...🚨 We've raised money from a group of readers and supporters, including ex-NYT CEO Mark Thompson and longtime Mill members like @turi and @DianeCoyle1859.
It means this model can now expand - more journalists, more cities.

@jonjalex @LargerUsNetwork I’ll take it. He’s morally objectionable but he’s hot. 😂

@LargerUsNetwork Great stuff - although I have to apologise to @turi as that photo did make me think for a second that you’d got Lance Armstrong on the board…

In 1750, France had a population of 25M and were the China of Europe. If the French had continued growing at the same pace as the rest of Europe, they'd be 250M today.
Why they stopped, and what the consequences were, are fascinating.

@hugorifkind Primacy of human freedom over personal conviction beautifully embodied by @timfarron who has also written about the tensions there.
I think it’s the very foundation of liberalism.

@Valen10Francois Still proving the failure of that moderating influence of Rome all those centuries ago is playing out?

Startling polling from @Unherd, on the eve of the 3rd anniversary of Brexit. In all 650 UK constituencies apart from three (all in Lincolnshire), more people now agree than disagree that Brexit was a mistake. Biggest movement in left leaning areas.

@jbenton Feels just like blogging did 15 yrs ago. Everyone and their grandmother launched one, until they all collectively realised much more was being written than being read.
Same for all new UGC formats?
I say this as someone who launched a pod during lockdown and has now stopped ;-)

New by me —>
Where did all the new podcasts go?
The number of new podcasts launched fell by nearly 80% between 2020 and 2022 — and seems to still be dropping. Has podcasting moved from a gold rush to a mature market?
