@G0ffThew @BasicallyIDoWrk In the last three arcs of Wano, Egghead, and now Elbaf the majority of the character development has be soley for side/guest/background character not the crew themselves. The crew are just showing up and doing the things they always do as usual.

@G0ffThew @BasicallyIDoWrk Its also if we are being perfectly honest a narrative second, adventure first story as far as the main crew. Its a bit like Lupin III where the same characters locked into their archetypes show up to play in a new sand box each arc...but don't actually change that much themself

@Stella_Hoshii Its weird, I don't hate the idea of a gonzo neon-punk scifi...but the teaser is so quiet and understated that it totally clashes with that aesthetic.

There’s no gameplay show, and the sci-fi art style looks utterly mediocre; I can’t see anything unique or appealing about it. It’s almost one of the least appealing titles I’ve ever seen. If I could, I’d give it a 0.

@WigsNBA @ryuseihashida Yeah, I think this is the realistic answer, and it wouldn't be bad at all, but it also feels like a bit a low bar to set. I'd love to see something that is like the reverse of what the Gundam Origins manga is to the original Gundam series.

@turkeytest101 @ryuseihashida I prefer what they're doing being very manga accurate besides fixing character models and continuity. Like how Jojo got a perfect adaptation by david productions so there's no want for a better version. Accurate to manga always ages better than current fads like impact frames.

@MikeyNohMore I was trying to describe it to my friend and realized it feels a lot like a 90s action-fantasy shows like Hercules or Xena, unabashedly camp. It's not something I usually look for in entertainment, but being an adaption of a literal chidrens cartoon, it just kinda works.

The problem some people have with Netflix Piece actually has less to do with casting and acting and more that it's unapologetically cheesy and earnest like 70s movie and TV were. It's post-postmodernist, and a lot of people find that level of sincerity from modern media jarring.

@radsechrist I say reject it, but more likely just on terms of it being a shit quality AI product, there would be moral pushback too, but I'm not certain that moral element on its own has enought public support to make a movie flop.

For me, the greatness of the Doctor Strange comics was extreme psychedelic visuals and authentic spiritual mysticism.

Giving Gen 1 a modern look is difficult because you quickly lose the pkmn's "aura" especially when it comes to iconic pkmn like this, but I'm glad with the result, although there's definitely room for improvement
