.@Arappor’s @comrade_rk says the alleged malpractice of Chennai Corporation under the previous government still continues: Corporation is seeking to rent excavators (Rs 49.56 lakh) and other heavy machinery at a cost that exceeds their actual value. Contractor is given just one day. He doubts whether such contracts are fixed. Corporation ensures the tender value does not exceed a certain amount, above which they must seek approval from higher authorities. If six bulldozers are bought for the Perungudi dumping yard, why should the Corporation float six tenders, each valued at Rs 48.33 lakh, instead of a single tender, he asks. He doubts the machinery is being purchased for more than its market value. Corporation floats limited tenders enabling only particular people take part in this. He says these kinds of tenders can be floated only during natural calamities. @CMOTamilnadu

#Breaking Greater Chennai Corporation suspends two officials over irregularities.
A park overseer and an executive engineer were suspended for irregularities. While a complaint on park overseer was received of collecting money, another EE in Perungudi was suspended for floating six limited tenders worth Rs 3 crore for renting earthmovers for 105 days.
The tender just had a gap of one day for bidders to apply, and the rental costs were higher than the MRP itself.
GCC commissioner J Kumaragurubaran called these “serious violations” and that they are taking action on any localised irregularities instantly with suspension. The commissioner has directed officials not to float any limited tenders.
