One of the finest Secretary Generals in the history of NATO was @jensstoltenberg . It is always a genuine pleasure to meet him and to exchange views in Norwegian 🇳🇴 about the Alliance. NATO embodies leadership, vision, cohesion, defence, and shared values. Yet above all else, NATO means people. It is through individuals of Jens Stoltenberg’s calibre that the Alliance has reached its current strength and relevance. I wish to recall a particularly episode, especially for those who today fall prey to online disinformation, antisemitism, or reflexive anti-Trump and anti-American sentiment: “Donald Trump: Why was the increase so significant last year? Jens Stoltenberg: It is also due to your leadership, Mr. President — to the clear and firm message you have delivered. Your message has had a real and tangible impact.” This exchange took place on 11 July 2018, during the NATO Summit in Brussels. Jens Stoltenberg had just underscored the largest rise in defence spending in a generation among the European allies and Canada. 🇺🇸 President @realDonaldTrump promptly inquired why, and Stoltenberg replied directly, crediting the President’s leadership and unwavering pressure. While Donald Trump was consistently pressing the European allies to assume greater responsibility and increase their defence expenditures, a prominent European leader 🇫🇷 publicly declared that NATO was experiencing “brain death.” In the end, it was precisely that leadership and determined pressure from President Trump that helped rescue and reinvigorate the Alliance. Today, Romania 🇷🇴 commemorates 22 years since its accession to NATO. We have been, we remain, and we shall continue to be a steadfast and reliable partner of the Alliance and of all those who approach its future and its vital role with genuine seriousness.

“President” Maduro - as he liked to call himself, a criminal dictator who kept the Venezuelan people in darkness, poverty, fear, terror, and humiliation for 25 years, almost completely robbing them of any chance at a bright future, officially appeared on the U.S. enemies list with a $50 million bounty on his head. His defiance of the United States ended today. President @realDonaldTrump has liberated Venezuela. No other American president in recent decades had the courage to make such a move - in one of the most complicated moments in recent human history. A move precious not only for the Venezuelan people, but for the entire free world. Trump’s critics are in shock. Especially those clueless people who accuse him daily of being “in bed” with Putin and fail to understand that Trump’s game with Russia (and China) is a very long chess match. Finally, a global superpower has grasped the value of long-term strategy. Voices in the free world - including some in Europe - who condemn the U.S. intervention in Venezuela are nothing but the ultimate proof of the devastation that communist-socialist doctrine inflicts on new generations. As a Romanian born in Timișoara, I thank President Trump today for the United States’ fight against the cancer called communism and the dictators who still keep it alive. To those complaining about Trump and the new American administration: Wake up. Adapt. Sit at the table. Play the game. The world has changed.
