@reedzeta @SoloFlow786 @brianstelter @LlamasNBC Oh I agree on all that, but if he lives out these next four years, I don’t think he’s leaving. There’s already talk about how he can’t do more than two *consecutive* terms, so that man’s not leaving until he’s carried out.

He isn't up for re-election. Establishment Republicans that filled his first WH will be all gone. He has characters like Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Steve Bannon, Steven Miller, Peter Navarro, etc. These are his advisors. He is out for revenge. It's his last shot at power and he will go for it this time and go after all his enemies. It will be nothing like the first 4 years.

Fox News and right wing media is ubiquitous for a long time. Religion and Republican are synonymous. Telling them to not vote Trump would be like forsaking Jesus.

@ZaidJilani @brianstelter Republicans fight any wage increases and tariffs aren’t going to do a thing to help prices. Both had plans for tax relief for lower wage earners, so I’m not seeing what the other guy brought to the table other than a big middle finger to everyone they wanted to collectively hate.

@prchovanec @MalcolmNance One of the first things that their media did was do away with the notion of a real verifiable truth. Truth became unknowable. Like religion. Faith. Once that happened, facts no longer mattered, and they ran with “alternative facts”. A lie has became just another man’s truth.

I think the biggest challenge this country faces is that we now live in a climate of lies. I'm not talking about informed and rational differences of opinion - of which there are many. I'm talking about the most obvious falsehoods being paraded as equivalent to verifiable truths.

@daveweigel That’s not quite fair. They did focus on her a lot. Traditional mainstream media were absolute wimps. They’d just focus on the horse race and totally failed to straight up say what was actually going on, and what was at stake. Meet the Press was total garbage.

I'd agree and add that traditional and liberal media helped Harris much less than new media helped Trump. D-aligned media often focused more on What Did Trump Just Say? than Harris message; over-represented the ex-Rs who were outnumbered by MAGA converts.

@AmandiOnAir I’m convinced that man is not going to leave office unless it’s in a box. We’re stuck with him, and he’ll never see any justice for anything he’s done or is going to do. Honestly, I fear what he’s GOING to do the most. I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen the worst of him yet.

This election — the most critical and important in our lifetimes — was fundamentally about what kind of country and what kind of people we actually are — and I’m afraid we now have our answer.

@DavidAFrench @JohnJHarwood Biden not stepping aside earlier would have been better. Having a real reckoning for Democrats in a primary could have helped. However, Harris left if all on the field. I don’t think she could have done better to change the outcome. She swung HARD, and I can’t fault her.

If present trends continue, this Trump victory will swamp all the micro-explanations. Shapiro as VP wouldn't have changed this. Keeping Arab-Americans in Michigan wouldn't have changed this. It's all the big stuff -- defeat in Afghanistan, a porous border, inflation, and (yes, this really matters) Biden's refusal to acknowledge reality and step aside in time for Democrats to have a real primary.

@Mikel_Jollett Harris will inevitably win the popular vote. It’s always just the spiteful mean hicks in very rural counties combined with clueless urban voters. A bunch of chickens voting for KFC. Some of them are doing it without much thought, and others are angrily jumping into the fryer.

Still waiting for "responsible pundits" to come around to the obvious conclusion that the electorate was not looking at data sets or weighing policy against basic values of "freedom" or "dignity." It was dumb fucking people doing dumb fucking shit in a dumb fucking country.
