I'm honestly just tired of hearing about Jews and Israel as some extra-special explanation for anything.
There are good people and bad people who are Jews. Israel is a country. Mossad is about as evil as our CIA, but 2x as effective.
If there is a secret cabal of Jews, there probably is one of Catholics (my Catholic friends say these are the Jesuits), Protestants (my Catholic AND Protestant friends say these are Freemasons), etc.
They're people. They are born, they live, they die.
There's no reason to make Jews a bugaboo.
But I recently found out I have Jewish ancestry, so what do I know?

Maybe it makes me a bad person, but honestly I’m so autistic that my issue with the antisemitism on here isn’t that it’s obnoxious, unkind or “morally wrong”, it’s that it breaks people’s brains and turns them into actual retards with fetal alcohol syndrome, with whom no meaningful dialogue or debate can occur, because they’re too emotionally committed to a litany of spastic priors that nobody with a fully functioning brain shares. It’s that it’s a totalising commitment to cult logic. You cannot meet cult logic in the middle anymore than you can be half pregnant, either you’re buck broken by third world Islamist retard logic or you’re not. If you are, there’s nothing to discuss.

@buctootim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer So why are @CphAtomics working on a thorium molten salt reactor if they won't be cheaper and safer then current technologies?
You think that they don't understand it?
English

@twit_grim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer What is it with X that randoms think they know better than than the designers and operators? It's universally recognised that the different technologies have a different mix of costs at different life stages but overall its cost neutral. I'll leave you to it.

Great to hear @elonmusk and the audience so excited for Iain Banks vision of Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism

Fuel prices are expected to rise to
£1.50L - unleaded
£1.80L - diesel
Within a week.
This is what happens in a world addicted to fossil fuels.

@brontecottage @KathrynPorter26 @KateFantom Well that's bollocks.
The economy is dependent on an imported energy source. Everything needs energy, so the increase in scarcity of oil increases the price of everything.
English

@KathrynPorter26 @KateFantom Totally correct..,as I understand it there is plenty of oil in the world and China and all the friends of Iran are getting through Hormuz …only 5% is not. This rise is oil makes money for government and oil companies. We are in difficulty because of Miliband.

@ChrisO_wiki @IvisonJ @nicolas_richoux General Richoux would be speaking German instead of French if the USA and British allies had not liberated France at great cost of men and resources.
English

Note @nicolas_richoux specifically citing the threat to invade Greenland. I *cannot* emphasise enough how much this event has caused a collapse in trust between the US and Europe.

🇫🇷🇺🇸 French Gen. Richoux on Trump begging Europe for Hormuz help: “He can go fuck himself.”
English

@s_griebel @planefag @ChrisO_wiki @nicolas_richoux America has been broken for quite some time.
They've elected senile, geriatric heaters for 12 years now.
They know they need healthcare, immigration and tort reform for decades but nothing ever gets done.
English

@planefag @ChrisO_wiki @nicolas_richoux It would barely pass. Let’s be serious. 80% of republicans would be with Trump if he actually tried. Also, Congress can’t do shit, it would be a vote days after the initial attack and he would just ignore it. This isn’t insecurity, it’s realism. America under Trump is broken.
English

@buctootim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer Not necessarily. It depends on whether unwanted products can be removed from the mix.
In molten salt reactors, it will depend on material science. If they can create materials that resist temperature and corrosion, then maintenance will be less and not require shutdowns.
English

@twit_grim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer and require more maintenance which increases costs again.
English

@buctootim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer They are certainly safer and require much less concrete which reduces construction costs.
English

@twit_grim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer Ho hum. Why don't you bang on about Thorium for a bit because you really aren't getting the part about unpressurised reactors not being any cheaper.
English

@Erst_Officer @Donalds25647148 @rscragg @MickMechanics Reprocessing requires human intervention which increases costs.
Ideally we need as little downtime as possible and certainly as little transportation of dangerous material.
English

@twit_grim @Donalds25647148 @rscragg @MickMechanics Fuel costs, processing included, only adds a cent per kwh.
English

@buctootim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer That's not a passively safe design.
That's why it's expensive.
English

@twit_grim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer Yawn. People have been saying exactly the same thing since Calder Hall in 1956. Reality is cost of Hinckley C will be at least £48bn and the already agreed price of the electricity will be £138 mw/h - three times the wind and solar price
English

@Erst_Officer @Donalds25647148 @rscragg @MickMechanics So does the UK. It's only necessary cos current reactor designs only burn a fraction of the fuel before they need to be reprocessed.
Reprocessing adds to the costs.
English

@buctootim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer A new generation could be much cheaper.
You get what you design for.
Passive safety would reduce costs greatly.
English

@twit_grim @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer They aren't cheaper - just different costs in maintenance and build
English

@Donalds25647148 @rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer That clean up would be a lot cheaper if we used reactors to burn up the waste instead of trying to store it.
We're throwing away really useful, valuable stuff.

English

@rscragg @MickMechanics @Erst_Officer Very true.
We need a new generation of reactors that aren't pressurised and are passively safe. That way, they'll be much cheaper.
The West didn't seem to be pursuing this but China is.
English

@MickMechanics @Erst_Officer Solar is cheap but intermittent. Nuclear is expensive but reliable. Let’s at least be honest.
English

@JamesWebb_16 Westphalia was in a context before weapons of mass destruction.
Far better to assassinate than have an all out war.
English

Assassinating heads of state has been taboo since at least the Treaty of Westphalia. There are a number of very practical reasons it's a very bad idea. For one, it makes it near impossible for states to negotiate. It also galvanizes public opinion (in places such as Iran) behind the regime. It's seen as an attack on the whole people.
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani
The response to this is rather strange. Did anyone sensible seriously think that Israel and the US could assassinate a literal head of state, and that this wouldn’t normalise…political assassinations?
English

@rjwilliams90 @AboveItAll2030 @KateFantom @wintonARK France is the lowest carbon industrialised economy.
It shows that it can be done.
If they had EVs, then they could be completely free of the middle East.
English

@AboveItAll2030 @twit_grim @KateFantom @wintonARK What does “climate change is urgent” mean? Most people think it’s a threat and want more action to mitigate it.
Nuclear fuel might be cheap but making electricity from it is not. And we are using it, but it’s not without complications so we don’t put all our eggs in that basket.
English
