🚨 NEWS: A Lebanese rescue worker just went on Sky News and said it directly. The area Israel bombed in Beirut had zero Hezbollah presence. Zero. Not a military installation. Not a weapons cache. Not an operational base. A civilian neighborhood. Children. Elderly residents. People with nowhere to go and no part in anyone’s war. Israel has called every strike a counterterrorism operation. This man pulled people from the rubble and said there was nothing military about what was underneath it.

This is an unnecessary and unreasonable overreach proposed by @GoI_MeitY via their draft IT Rules. There’s so much better that we can offer to the world in terms of a balanced approach towards policy and tech, let this not be it ~ by shutting people’s ability to call out falsehoods via community notes.

Anyone visiting Patna today raves about the Bihar Museum, calling it one of the world's finest... DG Anjani Sir, who has led the project from the start, says: "For the museum, we've never settled for anything 2nd best. Always the top quality, starting with choosing the architect - the renowned Japanese firm Maki & Associates, led by Pritzker Prize winning architect Fumihiko Maki." Every foreign delegate or celebrity who comes to Bihar makes a point of visiting it. Locals take great pride in it. Yet there's a sad backstory... The project is CM Nitish Kumar's dream project. He wished to restore Patliputra's ancient glory and put Bihar's rich heritage on full display. Even while trying to steer the state's economy back on course, he wanted to give Biharis a reason to feel proud of their storied past. The old Patna Museum simply wasn't large enough to do justice to that heritage. When the project was announced, it met a wall of resistance - from civil society, intellectuals, politicians and even common people joined. Critics called the ₹500 crore spend a waste of public money... Court cases /PIL filed. Patna High Court said it was indeed a misuse of funds. Though it didn't stop the project as it was nearing completion. Now this same museum, a true cultural landmark, is a definite "must stop" today - whenever anyone visits Bihar for a short 1 or 2 day trip, right alongside Nalanda and Bodh Gaya. Bihar welcomes around 65 million tourists in a year, with the museum drawing crowds as a major attraction - boosting not only local jobs in hospitality and services, but also Bihar's global image. The Bihar Museum's story offers a powerful lesson... Don't let popular opinion derail big picture goals. When a vision is rooted in genuine purpose and executed with uncompromising quality, time becomes its greatest ally.

Civilization values things differently. But not all value is financial. Take art or cinema: the greatest works in will never be forgotten. In the case of Devi Shetty, he has saved so many lives personally and through his institutions that he will never be forgotten. That is the true value of someone or something.
Nithin Kamath@Nithin0dha

I recently had dinner with Dr Devi Shetty, the founder of Narayana Hospitals. For those who don't know him, he's the guy who figured out how to do open heart surgery for a few hundred dollars when the same procedure costs a bomb in the US. Narayana has 18,000 beds across India, and if you ask most middle-class people in Bangalore about it, they'll speak highly of it. There was one thing I kept thinking about over and over again after meeting him. Narayana's market cap is around ₹38,000 crore. Now compare that to pretty much any half-decent financial services business in India, and it'll be valued more than that, including Zerodha. A brokerage, worth more than a hospital chain, that has probably saved hundreds of thousands of lives. I get the arguments. If you're a fund manager/analyst, you can immediately explain it away using margins, capex, asset-light vs asset-heavy, and all that, and I'm not saying the market is wrong. But it's still a strange world we've built, where the businesses closest to money get valued the highest, and the ones doing the hard and essential things get priced like boring utilities. A hospital carries physical infrastructure, enormous liability, thin margins and the actual weight of keeping people alive. And somehow that's worth less than a platform for buying and selling stocks. I don't have a clean take on this. All of this just felt odd. Ps: Nothing here is investment advice. For that, go to @zerodhavarsity

#EducationForAll #AffordableEducation #Jaipur #StudentSupport #IndiaEducation
