Opposition to the degazettement of Capitol Hill police station, as the Upper Hill District Association(UHDA) now say the action is a threat to public safety and an affront to the Rule of Law.
The degazettement of Capitol Hill Police Station in Upper Hill raises serious concerns. The manner and urgency with which it has been undertaken invite more questions than answers.
Reports indicate the land measures 2 acres, yet available records suggest it is approximately 2 hectares (about 5 acres). Why is a critical security facility being sacrificed for alternative use and why the rush?
This is not merely about one police station. It is about the precedent. Public assets belong to the public, and their surrender must never be silent.

In a brazen land grab move, the government has shut down and degazetted the Capitol Hill Police Station, with a source intimating that the Head of Public Service asked the Inspector General of Police to surrender the land.

End of an Era!
Capitol Hill Police Station officially closed and degazatted! All afandes redeployed.
Capitol Hill once a place of authority, protection and state presence… now just another reminder of how quickly power shifts and eras come to an end. The degazettement of the Police Station is not just administrative, it's symbolic.
For years Capital hill Police Station ground carried weight. It stood in the shadows of influence, closely tied to the presence and legacy of H.E Raila Odinga, whose official office at Capitol Hill made the area more than just a location, it was a center of political energy, strategy and national conversation by all and sundry, local or foreign.
Now, with his departure, the silence is getting louder. Police Officers ordered to vacate immediately. Operations shut down. A station erased from the map.
It raises deeper questions:
Was the station just a security installation or was it part of a larger ecosystem that revolved around Baba's power and presence? Because when the influence leaves, everything else seems to follow.
As Students of Ulimwengu and History, Capitol Hill is teaching us something profound: In Kenya, spaces don’t just serve institutions, they serve moments, leaders and movements. And when those moments pass, even concrete structures lose their meaning.
History doesn’t always announce its end loudly. Sometimes, it quietly packs up and leaves.
Awuoro!
End of an Era!
After the departure of Raila Odinga, the Capitol Hill Police Station has officially been closed and confirmed by a degazettement from the ministry of Interior ! All police officers based there have been deployed elsewhere in Nairobi.
The Capital Hill Police Station has been closed and degazetted. The station sits on a 2-acre piece of land and was originally intended to serve as the headquarters for police operations in Nairobi.

Rainfall expected to increase across the country from Thursday in Nairobi, Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, South-Eastern and Coast regions, weatherman says
The biggest drivers of flooding is impervious covers- roads, paved walkways, rooftops of development, parking lots etc. They prevent natural absorption.
With Nairobi’s augmented sporadic developments over the last decade and pavements everywhere, there is more water runoff on the surface that is reaching the storm water drainages faster. Storm water that used to be absorbed in have been converted to runoffs. #Nairobifloods
Floods Fury
Heavy rains that pounded Nairobi and surrounding areas have left a trail of destruction, damaging drainage systems, roads, and residential estates.

I have always advocated for doing the right thing. During my time working in the environment i kept engaging peopleon the importanceof a clean and healthy environment as well as the importance of our natural resources, I consistently stood for protecting our natural systems.
The time has come to fix this problem once and for all. It does not matter who the developer is if an illegality has been committed, the law must take its course. Any structures obstructing natural water flow should be removed to allow the waters to pass as they should. Illegal structures along the drainage systems must be removed with immediate effect. This is for your own good .
