@Matt_Pinner I stayed with my dog to the end at the vets. It oddly prepared me for when my mother chose MAID just two years later and I attended that also holding her hand to the end.

We didn't have the truck elephant races until they enforced 105 kph (65 mph) speed limiters on trucks here in Canada. Now the steering wheel holders just set the cruise control and veg out. The legislation was supported by the general public, you get what you vote for. Beware the law of unintended consequences.

About 2 hours into our 8 hour drive to Nashville, and I have some comments: - The left lane is for active passing - Many people don’t drive this way AT ALL - Semi-trucks passing each other going 0.1 mph faster than the one they’re passing should result in loss of license

I don’t know why everyone is worried about the LNG market. Canada is HERE TO BACKFILL QATAR’S LOST VOLUMES. If we start today, and work all-out around the clock, in just a FEW SHORT YEARS Canada can confidently deliver a preliminary environmental impact assessment. After that it’ll just be a couple of hundred weeks before the indigenous consulting is complete after which the ascension to final decision by the federal environment minister can take place. When the federal agencies make their decisions, we can FINALLY BEGIN provincial permitting. This won’t take long, and once provincial permitting is complete we just have to execute a short 5 year ecosystem monitoring study. After that, when we submit final plans to the provincial government, we should be GOOD TO GO AHEAD AND BUILD a very comprehensive community information pamphlet for the mandatory 720 day public comment period. When the public comment period is complete, and the final investment decision is reached, it’ll be SHOVELS IN THE GROUND on the local fencing needed to secure the site for 2 years to give migratory species enough time to change their patterns. Once migration patterns are changed, and the final hazardous emissions diffusion studies are complete, the community is consulted, and all permits are obtained, CONSTRUCTION WILL BE UNDERWAY on the monitoring systems needed to ensure that no local Salmon population feel personally slighted by any new infrastructure. While this sounds like an arduous process, it’s TOTALLY necessary to ensure Canada remains carbon-competitive. Have no fear all those that may be unable to heat their homes in a few short weeks, Canada is here to deliver ENERGY SECURITY TO THE WORLD… unless it impacts the livelihood of one single snail, then you’re on your own kid.

@TexasTamieK I think all the bugs moved to Saskatchewan. Last year I rode my motorcycle up to Alaska, to North Carolina, PEI and when I got back into Saskatchewan my windshield was plastered with bugs in short order.

It was common practice in the 1970’s, 80’s and even the early 90’s to wash your windshield when you stopped for gas every week. Bugs galore covered the windshield and front grill on your vehicle. That’s not the case anymore. It’s like the bugs have simply disappeared. No bees, no gnats, no flys or moths. Our skies are being poisoned and killing off the insects. When was the last time you saw snail trails going across the concrete walkway after a heavy rain? When was the last time you saw earthworms wiggling across your driveway after a nice rainstorm? Our skies are being poisoned and contaminating the earths soil and killing them. Eczema and psoriasis are also becoming the norm.

My sister made over $130,000 a year working for a commercial insurance broker that insured construction, oil patch, trucking companies. She did the sales, at the office visits, road trips, asset audits, etc. Her biggest beef was other girls in the office that didn't do their damm jobs and lie about it. It's not hard, just do what you say you are going to do and you will shine. I remember she did a sales presentation to a construction company at Rocky Mountain House on a Saturday and came back with a full premium cheque in the amount of $1,084,000, I saw it with my own eyes. She got a commission percentage out of that.

My wife and I were talking the other day about potential career options for my 15 yrs old daughter who really struggles in school and is likely not college bound/material. For guys it’s easy… Don’t want to go to college, pick a trade or figure something else out such as a police officer, firefighter etc. It’s not as easy for girls. I think she would do well in sales since she is attractive, has the personality and is extremely social (spends hours everyday talking on the phone to all her friends). For parents with daughters who aren’t on the college path…what are some real, high-income career options you’ve seen work?

In 1987 when I started trucking, I asked the boss how to do something, he replied "you'll just figure it out yourself". Years later when I went into flat deck, same thing. Years later when they put in the Electronic log, no paperwork, no instructions, even the manufacturer had nothing on it's website, just sales promotion. I had to figure it out for myself all those years. Only 'training' any of those conpanies ever did was aafety videos produced by their insurance company.

We had six fatal load securement expert witness litigation cases just in quarter one 2025. People will argue that we have the worst drivers on the road but then they'll argue that we shouldn't load securement endorsement or open deck endorsement. 100% why we need open deck endorsement right here. Cargo securement violations are consistently Top 10–Top 15 violations in roadside inspections. Companies give driver's keys and just tell them to go get it It's insane.

“The notwithstanding clause also undermines the Charter’s foundational purposes,” writes @Nader_Hasan_law, who argues the SCC should find substantive limits on its use. How can part of the Charter undermine the Charter? That’s illogical in a basic sense. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

Holy shit! I honestly never thought Bill-C22, the Retard Bill, would actually go through, it is absolutely insane. Did you know ANY police force in the world can now obtain access to any Canadian's personal information? It's over, the country is done, there is absolutely no way Canada will ever survive this. Canadian's need to get US based cellular phones or go back to dumb phones.

@Moonlight_myths My grand ma and pa on my dad's side were both red heads. They had four kids, no red heads. But each of their kids had amongst multiple children one red head each. I'm one of them. So as far as I can tell, yes it can skip generations.

My sister gave birth to a red-haired daughter. But she and her husband are both dark-haired. No one in our family has red hair. My sister insists that her husband's great-grandfather was red-haired, and that's how it was passed down. Her husband didn't believe her, especially since she has this one red-haired colleague at work. Anyway, he insisted on a DNA test, which they did after huge fights and screaming matches. My sister threw the paper in his face. It showed 99.9% he's the father. But he still doesn't believe it, says the test could have been faked or someone paid off the lab. He wants to do another one at a different lab, but my sister is afraid this will definitely lead them to divorce He's not even talking to my sister right now. But he says it's better to find out the truth and live with a clear conscience. He doesn't want to raise someone else's child. I believe my sister 100%, but I have to admit the situation is pretty bizarre. Does anyone know anything about genetics?

One of our guys was complaining about the lack of money. I asked him a few details about his fuel economy, profit, etc. Said he didn't have a clue and didn't care about that stuff. As long as he got money at the end of the month, he was happy. That was five yeats ago, I retired just over four years ago. He's older than me an still driving his truck.

**TRUCKER POST** Just a quick reminder to some, Driving a truck does not equal running a Trucking Business. The operation of a truck is not the same as the administration of a Trucking Business. You see some O/O complaining all day about BS because they have a Truck Driver mindset. ITS ALL ABOUT THE TRUCK TO THEM. Imagine a carpenter only caring about the tool belt and not the business.

Older generations say “we all struggled in our 20s.” No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay $3200 for rent and $10 for eggs. You didn’t graduate into $50K student debt and $0 job security. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.

When people posted news links hosted by Canadian news, Facebook was actually helping to drive traffic to these companies. When I clicked on a link I saw the articles, yes, but I also saw whatever other local news, ads or events that were posted on such pages. By trying to force to Meta to pay for the privilege of seeing such pages the government effectively severed the bread and butter of these news orgs, which in the internet age is eyeballs. Without the views they lost ad revenues and it was all down hill from there.

Not a problem in Canada. Years ago they all switched to temperature compensating pumps. The Petro at Barstow 20 yrs ago had (don't know if it's still there) a very large outdoor storage tank for the truck diesel. It was painted black on purpose, to raise the temp and increase the volume of the fuel going to the pumps. They did not have temp compensating pumps, not required in the USA.

@noorrietje I had an uncle that was a really handsome fellow back in the 50's. He married a really ugly girl. He said once while drinking, she worships the ground I walk on and I don't have to worry about her faithfulness. You should look for a guy that you don't have to worry about.

I know a single father that couldn't get the support a single mother I also know gets from the government (both had two kids each). At the time (about 1990) they were both in line at the welfare office, she got enough money for food and rent, he got $50 and told to get a job, "men don't qualify". The single mom took pity on him. Eventually they dated, moved in together and got married. He is now my brother-in-law.

Single fathers vs single mothers. I vividly recall the experience of having a coworker that was a single mom and one that was a single dad. The single mom was never celebrated, never given grace and never given extra accommodations. I remember the animosity from people asking why she never volunteered to work the day after thanksgiving or Christmas “just” because she had a child and they felt we all had family equally important. When I worked with a single dad, they cheered on every little thing he did. He easily got a new girlfriend who picked up all the mother duties. No one judged him for not keeping his legs closed. When he was running late or called out because the kid was sick, people volunteered to cover for him. Nobody ever said he should have kept his legs closed. No one said he couldn’t raise a girl into a woman. Women signed up to stand in the gap of female guidance for the girl. So unlike single mothers, single fathers don’t have to deal with the shame from society.

@Amelia558rs I used one back in the mid 1970's with my grandfather when he was building his retirement house. All the neighbours had shallow wells, crappy water. We found a spot using the divining method. They had to drill down about three times deeper, but found good quality water.
