Render unto the #CarbonCycle the things that are the CarbonCycle’s, and obtain your effin Energy elsewhere. Freely translated from The Gospel according to Pete ✌️ twitter.com/jiimhoo/status…

@ShellenbergerMD Hydro has other very bad environmental problems. Sweden, Finland and Norway has killed almost to extinct their anadromic fishes. Also biodiversity has dropped and lots of methane from artificial lakes that dams make. Hydro dams should be blasted open again.

The scale, industrial clustering and vertical integration of Korea's nuclear supply chain that can be seen from this areal photo of Doosan's Enerbility site is astounding. This facility takes scrap steel in one end and ships reactor pressure vessels and steam generators out the other from an onsite port facility. If this looks impressive I can only imagine the scale in China.

Do you not consider wind and solar "energy resources" @mattjcan? Given we have the largest land area for solar energy collection in the world, shouldn't you have included that resource in your nonsensical pie graph? #auspol
Senator Matt Canavan@mattjcan

Australia has the 2nd largest amount of energy resources per person in the world - after Saudi Arabia. 95% of those resources are in coal and uranium. And they are the two things that Labor won't use 🤦‍♂️

Australian working class voter: I’m mad about the current rate of migration and will vote One Nation to stop it. Kos: So you’re concerned about climate change and neoliberalism. Australian working class voter: The Bondi terrorist attack was terrifying. I’m voting One Nation to stop Islamic extremism. Kos: So you want to tax the gas companies. Australian working class: I don’t like the way Australia is changing. Politicians celebrate multicultural holidays but don’t even bother to mention Australia Day and Easter. I feel like they don’t like me and my values. Kos: So you want Labor to move to the left. Australian working class: I feel culturally alienated by mass demographic change and feel like a stranger in my own country. I’m voting One Nation because I don’t want to become a minority. Kos: So you want to reopen the car factories

"Bucha" is the one-word answer to why Ukrainians cannot surrender land to Russian occupation. Land is people, and it means torture and death. Ukrainian victory is the only way the war ends.
Slava Malamud@SlavaMalamud

Three years since the liberation of Bucha. Three years since the world was shown the true face of The Great Russian Culture, something which it's still unable to acknowledge. Russians no longer bother to deny this, either. They are proud of it and want more.

4200 trucks between Syd and Melb per day. That would mean assuming they are evenly spaced we need a 175 truck charging station somewhere in the middle. Assuming 1MW charging, that means a constant draw of 175MW. Now the towns of Aubury Wadonga only draw 50-70MW, so now we need significantly more power in that area. If we wanted renewable power only we would need 3.2GWwhr battery just to supply overnight power in winter - 2.4 billion worth, Then enough solar to make sure we get 100% power in all weather conditions- so at least another 14 billion worth or trucks will get parked up every time it gets overcast in winter. Then we also need to charge them in Sydney and Melbourne- so triple those costs. We haven’t even mentioned the cost of the chargers themselves yet… or the space to park and manage 170+ trucks per hour.

@QuentinDempster The budget is shot because Labor had no contingency. You dont seem to have one on renewables now decarbonisation has been shown scientifically as well as economically stupid unless we go nuclear. You need to learn some science. You seem to have been bewitched

Here’s the problem as we confront disrupted petro supply+ destructive impact on inflation with possibility of a recession. This crisis will be seized upon to distract us from decarbonisation, the only viable market driven strategy to liberate us from corrupt global cartels.

The industrial revolution did not begin in Birmingham in 1760 It began in Zaandam in 1592 Cornelis Corneliszoon invented the wind-powered sawmill Planks became uniform, ships became modular, and the Dutch merchant fleet scaled faster than any navy could match They built hull before frame Craftsmen became line workers And build time dropped from 12 months to 4 By 1670 the Dutch Republic owned half of all European merchant capacity Yards ran year-round on Baltic timber and Swedish iron while competitors waited for seasonal supply England and France bought their ships from the Dutch The country that would later surpass them learned how from them first

Truth About Covid
Truth About Covid@TruthAbtCovid·
There is no grand conspiracy behind hydrocarbons. we use them because we have not found anything better yet. they are energy dense and portable. no other energy source is both. the stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones. it ended when we found better materials to make tools out of. The hydrocarbon age will end when we develop something better.

@LLBiggers That's not a meaningful comparison. Jet fuel is a source* of energy. A battery is a storage device.

“A gallon of jet fuel contains 34 kilowatt-hours of energy in a package weighing six pounds. A lithium-ion battery storing the same energy weighs 250 pounds. That density gap is why every military on earth runs on liquid hydrocarbons, why every container ship crossing the Pacific burns bunker fuel, why every combine harvester in Iowa runs on diesel, and why every 747 landing at Heathrow runs on kerosene. The fact that nobody wages war over solar panels is evidence of their limitations not superiority.” —@Shellenberger open.substack.com/pub/public/p/2…
