@BamaHsfb @coachjarmi8916 Looks the part? Ive seen a lot of 6'4 300lb coach killers play OT. Ive seen 5"9 Qb absolutely open games up. Being 6"5 or whatever doesnt make you a good qb. That's daddy ball 101 it sounds like.

@BamaHsfb @coachjarmi8916 What D1 offer. From UAB? Curious if mortensen knows this. What is the intrigue for an Orange Beach kid to move to Foley HS? Two completely different worlds.

@BleacherC27 @Farmerfrannn @coachmarkf Yea, injuries happen in all shapes and forms. 7v7 is for the kids to have fun, not to get them ready to play a championship season. I dont dislike it, im sure its alot of fun for them. But the HS staffs arent going to go to a 7v7 in March. let the kids have fun with it.

I have an idea @AHSAAUpdates This 7v7 thing is out of control, we can all agree. Why not have a association sanctioned 7v7 season that schools coaches can facilitate and run for 8-10 weeks after basketball? We all agree that extracurricular sports is about the student athletes..

He's in a great program currently. I assume the Stars will come next. Congrats.

@BleacherC27 @Farmerfrannn @coachmarkf No chance. No hs staff wants to go coach that and risk their dudes getting hurt. How many 5 man concepts with no pressure are ran during the regular season? Or 3rd and short when D drops 8?

@BleacherC27 @Farmerfrannn @coachmarkf So you do spring ball, then summer workouts then the full pad season then 7v7 right into spring ball. HS coaches dont want anyone of that. They do facilitated 7v7 during the summer already.

So, make it a season, allow HS coaches to coach it. This serves multiple purposes. 1.) allows kids to get skill development 2.) curbs some of the recruiting. 3.) get the middlemen out of the way. 4.) allow coaches to positively influence their players. @Farmerfrannn @coachmarkf

@CoachReamon Yea man until the staff has no clue and a kid isnt academically eligible or is playing out of position for 3 years just to go 4-6. If you are elite then yes, but better program puts you in better situation.

Playing at certain high schools can absolutely give you a recruiting advantage. More exposure. More college traffic. Bigger platforms. But let’s be honest… If you are truly that good, it won’t matter where you play. Film travels. Traits translate. Production shows up. The tape will speak.

@coach_mhiggs Great time to understand it's often who you know not what you know. Not saying its correct, but thats why these head guys who don't win continue to be recycled as head coaches.

Kind of ridiculous that schools can conduct head coaching interviews off record before the interview date and the rest of the process ends up being a formality. Guys are taking off work to interview for these spots, some commuting a ways away. They all deserve a fair shot.

@PRCoachBailey Explain it to me. You want the kids to pay or what some "recruiting coordinator" thats not associated with any team to evaluate them? The hs staff should have someone who cuts their film up for them. If not they need to find a program rhat will.

@PRCoachBailey Send it to who? College guys call the head coaches they trust and ask them if they have anyone or if "X" can play for us. Do "recruiting cordinators" not associated with schools do that as well?

Recruiting changed because.. Back then: College coaches dropped by practices randomly, caught games on a whim. Today: They’ve already watched your film. They know if you’re worth the visit before they show up. Send your film ✅

Imagine being a HSFB coach saying he rather his players lifting over 7v7 in the offseason. As the HS coach you are primarily responsible for lifting mon-fri lol. We get the kids for 7v7 one day a week for 2 hours. Are we actually the reason a player isn't making lifting gains?

@HoosierIsh They coach on the run and their meetings are streamlined. The coach off the film. Guarantee they film every drill, every day. There are not lectures during practice. No old head talking about "got to want it". Its precise and every drill/film leads to team period.

Why does Indiana have short practices? It’s not about doing less. It’s about wasting nothing. Cignetti learned early: Less exposure = fewer injuries. Fewer injuries = more continuity. But the practices aren’t just shorter. They’re sharper. Over half the time is scheme communication and job assignment reps. They’re rehearsing decisions. Practice days are mental so game days can be physical.

Thomas Johnston is one of the most accomplished defensive players in Alabama high school football history and a proven rising coach at the high school and collegiate levels. @TDJohnston42 Currently serving as Linebackers Coach / Co-Defensive Coordinator at Prattville High School, Johnston has already developed an All-Region linebacker while continuing to build an aggressive, disciplined defensive culture. Coach Johnston’s career reflects championship pedigree, elite production, and a proven ability to develop high-level defensive talent working under Bobby Carr and defensive Cordinator John Therrill
