Been thinking about the insane levels of casual subversion in “The Big Chill”. So many Boomers maintain it's an incredible movie (nominated for three Academy Awards) and cite how they deeply relate to it while noting that it was/remains culturally significant. Yet, I find it to be a terribly shallow film trying to sell a group of miserable aging adults as deep. The movie makes a point to highlight how they repeatedly resent their own families & regret life choices while acknowledging how fantastic they once had it; just a pile of absolute crap with no true introspection.
