Tell me that anyone anyone of those managers or planners should have some sense of just how strong the noise is going to be and they could look over and see wow this is gonna be absolutely awful for those people.

@usa_web_dev @HedgieMarkets I'm certain that every single datacenter project went through a public permitting process and at some point was discussed during a zoning or planning board meeting. The problem is that local residents aren't involved in their local community.

The company offered to buy their houses rather than fix the noise. One family has lived on that street for nearly a century. My Take This isn't one town with one bad facility. Microsoft faces a class-action in Wisconsin over data center noise residents can hear a mile and a half from the property line. In Virginia, one-third of data centers sit within 200 feet of homes. Noise from thousands of servers can hit 96 decibels, and diesel backup generators reach 105, which is a jet overhead. Residents report headaches, nausea, and sleep problems. Property values near this kind of infrastructure drop up to 20%. The company response in Michigan was to offer to buy the homes rather than quiet the facility, homes that families spent decades in, priced against a corporate buyout. Water in Oregon, wells in Georgia, ratepayer costs in Louisiana, river water in California, and now noise in Michigan and Wisconsin. None of this was in the brochure when these projects got approved. Indians are something else man 😂 An Indian guy was asking me about Paraguay 🇵🇾 residency Happens very frequently; but most of them are just time wasters. So I always just give them the price upfront (which is higher for them since there’s A LOT of extra paperwork involved) Surprisingly he says yes… And when I ask him for payment, he clarifies that what he actually wants is for ME to pay the $4,900 for him Why? He says he wants to “open a branch of my business in India” so “this could be very profitable for me” So the offer is: I front five thousand dollars, do the work, all for the privilege of letting HIM use MY brand I‘ve gotten crazy requests but this one is easily in the top 3

@Kafkaesquire @webdevMason People are always going to do somewhat dangerous things that we wish they wouldn’t and which mainly only endanger themselves. The key recognition for someone who understands our society and its origins is this: who gets to decide this question?

@murraychapman @webdevMason No, that’s baloney. This kid is running into the reality of small minded bureaucrats and over regulation albeit at the state level…. The corruption that has occurred especially in blue states that have become hyper controlled and hyper regulated is a serious issue.

@andayeKE But we exist in a world of nation, states and laws old income from the local sovereign jurisdiction. I’m afraid one has to think locally if one wants to get anything done. Borders are still very, very important and protect us from wild animals.
