FMC is saddened by the passing of Former Member Merrill Cook (R-UT, 1997-2001). Cook focused heavily on fiscal policy during his time in politics, and was known for his fighting spirit and devotion to his family and country. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

FMC grieves the loss of Former Member Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI, 2011-2015, 2016-2019). Hanabusa dedicated her life to serving the people of Hawaii, from the Sate Capitol to Congress, and was the first woman President of the Hawaii State Senate. Our hearts go out to her loved ones.

Our Chief of Staff trip ended with a tour of Dejima, Japan’s sole trading port with the Dutch during their period of national seclusion. It was impactful to finish our trip at this monument to cross-cultural exchange, and we’re grateful to everyone who made our visit a success!

FMC is sorry to share the passing of Former Member Dick Zimmer (R-NJ, 1991-1997). Zimmer was a passionate advocate for fiscal conservatism and government transparency, and was best known for introducing the landmark legislation Megan’s Law. Our hearts go out to his loved ones.

FMC mourns the passing of Former Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-CO, H: 1987-1993, S: 1993-2005). A strong supporter of fiscal conservatism and Native American affairs, Campbell was also a veteran, Olympian, and jeweler. His kindness and wisdom will be missed.
