@watling_samuel Looks like ADHD to me. Nb I still have no idea what his great new economic theory is

Let this be a lesson to everyone. No matter how good your think your academic or professional credentials are if you crumble at the first serious criticism of your work then you will never be a capable researcher.

@SartorialThug We used to do it with soaked tampons we'd shop lifted at lunch time

We used to do this at school. We called a wookiee for some reason. Most blackboards had one at some point in the day.

In a pub this afternoon (strange but true) and upon visiting the gents toilets, I was particularly taken with the way someone had soaked tissue paper, thrown it at the walls and got it to stick there. You don’t get that kind of skill just anywhere you know.

@FrankEarlUK Had to look that up - 'Clieves Hill' (according to Grok). I'd never heard of it. But it's near Ruff Wood, which I DO know. Re pedestrianisation - it's sucks the magic out of our few remaining wild places. Can't bear it!
English

@userx978 I usually tackle Cleve Hills. Been along the nature trail a few times, just a bit too pedestrianised. Beautiful scenery though.

@FrankEarlUK The waterworks at aughton .. best off going along the old railway into altcar tho .. it used to feel so deserted. But I think the national trust turned it into a hideous nature trail now

@userx978 I love cycling through Maghull and up into Ormskirk. Some amazing landscapes.

There’s a conspiracy on the Wirral (largely the result of amphetamine abuse) that the original Scousers came from Birkenhead.
This delusion stems from the fact Benedictine monks operated a ferry across the Mersey from Birkenhead priory in the 13th century.
Wirralites seem themselves as the first civilisation upon the banks of the Mersey.
The problem here is that Scousers weren’t Benedictine monks, and there has been established kingdoms in south Lancashire (West Derby hundred) centuries before Birkenhead even existed.
Places like Walton, Bootle, Childwall, Croxteth, Toxteth, Kirkby, and Wavertree, were all in the Domeday book of 1066.
Birkenhead is nowhere to be found within this manuscript.
Scouse is a modern creation. The product of industrialisation and Liverpool docks. It’s an inner city urban identity. Nothing to do with the Wirral.

@FrankEarlUK Of which was started on the Wirral....

Can anyone explain why @DrMatthewSweet has a BBC show called “Free Thinking”? He seems to spend most of his time calling people conspiracy theorists. Interestingly, Marianna Spring, the BBC’s disinformation correspondent, appeared on the last episode of this show.

@BowTiedTrance @CaseySoftware It pisses me off someone took over Adams' x account to post mountains of whatever, so Scott's posts are now buried too deep to be accessible

Persuasive writing lesson, courtesy of a Scott Adams blog post from 2015:
If you're going to trigger cognitive dissonance in the audience, just call it out explicitly. Then question whether it's happening.

@TomMaynes @K_Niemietz Freedom as long as you respect the property rights of others oh shit were getting into it

@K_Niemietz Do you think I'd get away with it if I posted, "The literal definition of "libertarian" is to be in favour of freedom in society. How does ANYONE think this is bad?"
