Firstly, I've had a whirlwind of new terminology and tools thrown at me over the last few weeks. I won't just arbitrarily grab and use tools at the behest of others. I must first know how it can benefit me, how it works, whether or not it's worth integrating, having passed my inspection (I haven't looked yet) and other factors like needing to first understand fully what I am working with before layering more tools and plugins on. This is not a dis on anyone's tools. It's just that I have some rules for myself when adopting anything.

Using Cursor in Agent Mode to upgrade an ancient code base written in Go. So far, it's flying through testing, upgrading, testing, refactoring, testing, upgrading knowing that there were several breaking changes. This is bloody fantastic. Doing all the heavy lifting.

@maietta ah, I see. You won’t even use something like @astral_sh ‘s ‘uv’? Then you can try it in a self contained .venv

Too bad this can't run in a container. I do not install language runtime or interpreters on my host system directly. I am new to using Cursor, so I'm really experimenting here. I'll give it a start and bookmark, may investigate later after learning the ins and outs of the IDE and LLM's that's built in, first. Thank you.

I'm pretty much going to sit back and watch MCP. I'm too old for this crap. If it's useful, I'll use it. Not currently useful, but eventually maybe so.

Here's where #CursorUtils proves useful. It allows your #CursorAgent to collab with a team of #AI agents to clarify and gain context, rather than just assuming. I instruct my Cursor Agent to work with Gemini, refine the task, and present it to me only when it's perfect. github.com/gweidart/curso…

With Cursor you spend a lot more time prompting and less time coding. I tried it for a a week or so and moved to @zeddotdev after I disliked how slow Cursor gets sometimes and how it slows me down. I have been using Zed for about 6 months now and it has been the best editor I’ve used in years. It has by far the best VIM mode I’ve seen in editors, the AI is pretty good too especially the responses are much better than the experience I had with Cursor. Sadly, the tab completions integration isn’t as good as Cursor, so I don’t use that feature.
