Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has played 35 playoff games over the last 2 seasons, shooting 334 FT attempts in that span. His 334 attempts RANK OUTSIDE THE TOP 1,000 for most FT Attempts in any 35 game playoff span in NBA History. The Free throw merchant narrative is LAZY and FALSE.

@OKCThunderWave Presti isn’t a very good drafter, many misses with that man.

Real convo I could see with Presti; Presti: “Hey Bulls, we’ll give you pick #12 and #17 for #4” Bulls: “No” Presti: “I’ll tell you who I’d draft at each spot” Bulls: “Deal”

Mitch Johnson talks about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: "You talking about Shai's free throws ???? I think probably half of them were from us being undisciplined first off the floor. He got us out of position and took advantage of it. Those 12 free throws helped out a lot and I can remember at least a few in my head right now that were undisciplined on our end"

@NewMutantSnap @Bullskickass I think a case could be made. By the eye test, Peterson was rather lazy and non-impactful at Kansas. Besides missing games, he roamed around the perimeter with little movement and didn't exactly pass the ball much. His impact on winning was questionable.

Am I the only person who would only pick AJ, Peterson, Boozer, or Wilson at 4 and no one else? I keep seeing others pick all kinds of different names besides the big 4, and I just don’t get it.

I agree and the sky high offensive load will make staying engaged on defence a lot more taxing physically and mentally, I just wish we could’ve seen it even slightly more I believe he has the tools to be a good defender while being undersized. His wingspan can make up for it I just don’t personally bank on guys to develop the defensive motor to stay engaged when they rarely show it maybe acuff with less pressure to create offensively can pick it up but I’m unsure about it currently given what he’s shown at Arkansas and how heavy mismatch hunting is in nba schemes nowadays.

@vSwungo @JadenTheKid4 @ballerlegend03 @abditmr Additionally, when you have one of the highest O loads in CBB on like a 6-7 man rotation, your bandwidth and overall cog on the other end will be delayed, not tryna excuse his lack off ball awareness but it has so much room for improvement with NBA reps

Every advanced stat points towards him being very bad at the next level on defence and so does 90% of the film. Kids coming in now aren’t incentivized enough by money anymore Darius got a bag in NIL and already signed a shoe deal he’s set for life nba money is a cherry on his cake.

I don’t agree Brunson is way better at getting deflections and much better timing in passing lanes and on ball with steals Darius is 4th percentile in college for steals that is bottom of the barrel bad. Not to mention bottom 15% in defensive impact while being lazy and getting hunted I don’t think he is going to be even remotely good on defence in the NBA but we can agree to disagree.

@vSwungo @JadenTheKid4 @ballerlegend03 @abditmr Darius has spurts of being a Brunson level defender on the ball and he’s gonna be a better screen navigator then him in the nba he clearly has better footwork in that sense, he will be a Brunson level defender in the NBA with nba reps lol

@JadenTheKid4 @ericembiid @ballerlegend03 @abditmr There’s more games than just the video I showed it’s every game multiple times not just limited to those clips. That’s where we disagree I don’t think he will be better at the next level I think he’s a very bad positional defender at the college level and will be in the nba too.

Obviously he will be used as a Brunson type at the next level I just don’t see him on Brunson’s level as a defender Brunson will give effort fight over screens and be hidden when possible I just see Darius as a way lazier and easily beatable small guard that will get hunted possession after possession. It also won’t do him favours to go to an awful team with bad defenders around him it will only make him lazier and less engaged on that end I feel.

@vSwungo @ericembiid @ballerlegend03 @abditmr If Acuff is on your team you use him the same way the Knicks you Jalen Brunson on defense. And when he’s given effort he’s shown to be a very capable defender the game vs Alabama was proof of that with the way he guarded Philon a couple times through the game.
