"While real-world evidence from India is still evolving, our research shows that LEZ have the potential to significantly reduce emissions, by up to 85% for NOx & 50% for carbon monoxide in preliminary assessments from Maharashtra cities. The eventual impact, however, will depend on factors such as the notified zone area, duration of enforcement, & vehicle segments regulated.” said @vaikush23 @TheICCT to @Csoumya21 @htTweets

.@amitbhatt4u @TheICCT, shares insights in a recent article by @shubhangii_b @the_core_in on the structural barriers slowing the expansion of EV charging infrastructure in India, including low charger utilization, high capital costs, real estate bottlenecks & fragmented state-level policies. thecore.in/business/real-… “A customer’s decision to buy an EV should not be held hostage to RWA permissions or procedural delays in installing a home charging point.” - Amit Bhatt He also highlights the importance of moving toward a "Right to Charge" framework, where home charging is treated as a key enabler of EV adoption rather than a privilege dependent on approvals and administrative hurdles.

In his recent #OpEd in @htTweets @amitabhk87 argues that India’s #EV transition risks losing momentum if CAFE regulations for passenger cars continue to dilute ambition rather than accelerate change. ⚡🚗 hindustantimes.com/opinion/subsid… India has the opportunity to emerge as a global leader in clean mobility and advanced manufacturing, but only if policy frameworks push the industry toward real innovation.

#SchoolZones often become pollution hotspots due to congestion, idling & peak-hour traffic. With rising dependence on private vehicles for school commutes, the need to shift to cleaner, more efficient mobility is growing. Key insights: 🚌Promote school buses, shared rides, walking & cycling for cleaner commutes ⚡Electric school buses as a scalable solution, with future V2G potential 🚸Safer, inclusive streets around schools for children & vulnerable users

.@TheICCT & @Raahgiri_Fdn recently convened a multi-stakeholder roundtable on #CleanAirZones around schools to discuss pathways for reducing children’s exposure to transport-related air pollution & creating healthier school environments. @amitbhatt4u & @vaikush23 shared insights on the critical role of transportation in improving #AirQuality around schools & supporting healthier urban mobility systems. Cleaner mobility can cut children’s pollution exposure and improve neighborhood safety and livability.

.@amitbhatt4u @TheICCT, at the International Conference on Sustainable Energy: An Agenda for India 2047, organized by the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) & the Department of Energy, Govt of Karnataka. Amit spoke in session 1 on "Energy Governance, Climate Change & Energy Justice" spotlighting the Delhi #EVPolicy as a national benchmark. He emphasized how forward-looking supply-side regulations, such as ICE phase-out mandates & strengthened CAFE norms, can accelerate India’s journey toward #ViksitBharat

On the Delhi govt's Draft #EVPolicy 2026 released for public consultation, @amitbhatt4u said, "A shift towards regulatory measures, including the gradual phase-out of ICE vehicles in cities, is essential." hindustantimes.com/cities/delhi-n… Amit added, "Subsidies have played an important role in initiating the #EV transition, but global evidence clearly shows that they alone are insufficient to drive large-scale adoption. In this context, the Draft #Delhi #EVPolicy 2026 has the potential to be a game changer." ✍️ @snehilsinha27 @htTweets

How can #LowEmissionZones (#LEZs) work effectively in heritage cities? @vaikush23 @TheICCT, participated in a roundtable on planning & implementation of #LEZs in heritage cities at @CEPTUniversity1, Ahmedabad. A key theme that emerged from the discussion was that solutions for heritage cities cannot be approached the same way as the rest of the urban system.

Vehicle sales in #Delhi are outpacing the national average, making it clear that cleaner tech alone isn’t enough. As @amitbhatt4u @TheICCT tells @Trivedihood @htTweets & @AnumitaRoychowd @CSEINDIA the real shift must be toward zero tailpipe emission vehicles, backed by the right incentives for consumers & OEMs Watch here: youtube.com/watch?v=xvzuee… @amitbhatt4u @bhaumikgowande @TheICCT @vaikush23 @moorthymnair @narla_anirudh

As Delhi tightens vehicle & emission norms, real-world evidence from an @TheICCT's study with @TRUE_Emissions measurements provide critical insight into the city’s on-road fleet. Petrol vehicles dominate the on-road fleet (45%), followed by CNG (32%) & diesel (23%). Passenger cars are largely petrol, taxis & larger commercial vehicles operate on CNG, & 2Ws rely entirely on petrol. Delhi–Gurugram data provides a timely snapshot of on-road emissions as air-quality policies evolve. theicct.org/publication/rw… @narla_anirudh @amitbhatt4u @TheICCT @MORTHIndia @MHI_GoI @AnumitaRoychowd @amitabhk87 @AshpreetSethi @vaikush23 @SumatiKohli @shinejac @patralekha2011 @jayashreenandi @sumantrabarooah @sarvatathagata @Nirbhaya99 @Moreorleshphil @somitsenTOI

🚸🏫 Nearly ½ of India’s children walk to school breathing harmful 🚗💨 pollution along the way. Creating Low Emission Zones (LEZs) around schools can cut exposure by restricting the dirtiest vehicles. In @TheICCT blog: theicct.org/enabling-lez-a… @vaikush23 explores how #LEZs can work in 🇮🇳 using existing policies 📜 + global learnings 🌍

“Diluted Low Emission Zone interventions lead to diluted outcomes. Early trials must test stronger measures to reveal real impact.” - @vaikush23 @TheICCT At @IndiaUitp’s workshop on Low Emission Zones, he highlighted: 🔹 Limited measures = limited insights 🔹 Early trials are the best chance to test stronger solutions 🔹 Clear evidence is key for effective #AirQuality policy
