NEW: Prosecutor appears to suggest there is DNA evidence that 7-year-old Athena Strand, who was killed by a FedEx driver, was s*xually assaulted by him. Tanner Horner is accused of abducting the girl from her home before strangling her to her death. "We have DNA. Not only do we have initial DNA from Athena that has Tanner Horner's... We also have Tanner Horner's DNA in places where you shouldn't find DNA on a seven-year-old girl." Athena tried her best to fight off Horner. His DNA was allegedly found under her fingernails. Horrific.

NEW: FedEx driver who is accused of abducting and strangling a seven-year-old girl, puts his face in his hand as a photo is displayed of him driving her to her death. 7-year-old Athena Strand was seen standing behind Tanner Horner in his FedEx truck. Athena was allegedly snatched by Horner when he was delivering a Barbie doll to her home in Paradise, Texas. Horner initially claimed that he accidentally hit the girl with the truck before "panicking" and pulling her into the vehicle. He said he then strangled her in the vehicle and dumped the body 7 miles from the home. The photo, however, shows that Athena was alert in the truck and did not appear to have been struck by the truck. Wise County District Attorney James Stainton says the jury will see footage on the day of the killing, depicting the moment Athena was strangled to death. "Somebody covered up the camera because they don't want you to see. Guess what? Audio is still running, and you're going to hear it. You're going to hear what a 250-pound man can do to a 67-pound child," he said. "And when I say it's horrible, I mean it. I've been doing this for 25 years, and I promise you, buckle up." Horner qualifies for the death penalty.

I want to live in a country where using Spanish in a 15-minute halftime performance doesn't cause more outrage than men r*ping children for decades.

Out of ten men, one makes a sexual joke at a woman, two laugh, three fake a chuckle to fit in, and four stay silent. None of them speak up. Later, nine of them still believe they're the "good guys." But from the woman's perspective, the laughter, the silence, the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say"most men are the same," this is what they mean: not that every man harasses women, but that most men help protect the system that does.

Her name is Bohlale Mphahlele. Not 16 year old girl. The headline should read : Bohlale Mphahlele, at merely 16 years of age, has invented something to protect all women everywhere. She’s a legend.

a 19-year-old girl was walking home from work. a man offered her a ride. she said no. he followed her on foot. when she ran, he caught her by the hair. her body was found two days later in a drainage ditch. the police said she “shouldn’t have walked alone at night.” the headline called it a “late-night tragedy.” no one called it what it was femicide. but tell me again how refusing a ride is “paranoid.”

Every time I tell a man about all of the personal safety precautions I take, he looks at me like l'm crazy. Every time I tell a woman, she tells me a horror story and gives me a new safety behaviour to add to my list.

A teenage girl beat the reigning champion, a boy, in the regional chess tournament. He knocked the board over and stormed out. The organizers gave her the trophy in a back room. The local paper's headline read, "King Dethroned by Dark Horse." Her photo was not included. The boy was interviewed about "handling pressure." She quit competitive chess. But please, tell me about sportsmanship.. This is the ugly double standard: Boys get sympathy for losing, girls get erased for winning
