Colorado just opened the biggest wildlife overpass in North America.
Before it opened in December, the 18-mile stretch of I-25 between Castle Rock and Monument averaged one wildlife collision per day in migration season.
Elk, pronghorn, mule deer, black bears, mountain lions, all trying to cross six lanes of traffic to reach the 39,000 acres of habitat on the other side.
The new overpass is almost an acre wide, covered in dirt, and seeded with native plants. It connects to five underpasses and a fencing system that funnels animals toward safe crossings instead of the interstate.
Wildlife crossings work. Banff has documented 220,000 crossings on its system over 25 years. Korea has built 120 of them. The Netherlands runs the densest network on Earth.
The U.S. has roughly 50 wildlife crossings for 4 million miles of road. Every state with significant wildlife collisions could be building these, but most aren't.
Wildlife collisions cost the U.S. over $8 billion a year in vehicle damage, injuries, and lives. A single overpass pays for itself within a decade.
If your state hasn't built one, ask why.

The purpose of the blockade isn’t to bring Iran to its knees. Everyone has already figured out that Iran knows how to circumvent these restrictions.
The purpose of the blockade is to enforce the sanctions regime, which was breaking under oil shortages. US allies, including the Philippines, were making side deals with Iran.
These allies are now forced to buy from the US-approved sources, including the US. That in turn will reduce US supply and force gas prices up here in America.

Decades of sanctions appear to have turned Iran into a major industrial power. This is maybe the most surprising and important new thing I have learned from the present war. The 7 countries with the capacity to produce advanced heavy-duty gas turbines are United States, Germany, Japan, Italy, South Korea, China, and Iran.
ebrahim@mosbatboy
Iran has been producing turbines for years, but this text tells you that no one except a few Western countries has the ability to produce turbines.

Neat footage of a black wolf, a fairly rare observation in our area where 98-99% of wolves are gray.
We actually collared this wolf (now dubbed Wolf G11E) later in the summer, the first black wolf we ever collared on our project. As we knew when we collared him, G11E was not part of a pack but rather a lone wolf wandering around, which is pretty common for 1-2 year old males like G11E.

@Pataramesh Contrarian thought experiment: Someone sneaky is using Iran to destroy Israel?

Scientists have created one of the most detailed 3D reconstructions of a human cell (eukaryotic cell) ever produced.
This groundbreaking model, often termed a "Cellular Landscape Cross-Section Through a Eukaryotic Cell," combines data from X-ray tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and cryo-electron microscopy to map molecular structures in extreme detail.

🔥🔥Pepe Escobar is 100% right.
China isn’t just trading through Iran it’s building a sanctions-proof fortress.
In May 2025, Beijing quietly activated the 10,400 km China-Iran railway.
Trains now run from Xi’an straight through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to Tehran’s Aprin Dry Port in just 15 days slashing the old sea route by more than half.
Goods. Containers. And soon oil moving overland in tank cars, settled in yuan, backed by barter.
1. No navy.
2. No Strait of Hormuz.
3. No Strait of Malacca.
4. No US blockade possible.
This is the ultimate backup corridor the empire can’t touch.
While Washington obsesses over naval chokepoints, China is rewriting the map with rail and reality.
The New Silk Road just got armor.
This is how multipolarity actually wins. 🇨🇳🇺🇸 🇮🇷
