Gm Yesterday was Mother’s Day in the UK. I often say that being a mother is the greatest job I’ve ever had and the hardest and most rewarding too. My daughter, and the wonderful human being she’s turning out to be, is my biggest achievement. She’s my contribution to the world. Anything else I might accomplish is a bonus. 🤍

OK this is an interesting take on our movement. Where @madam_selkie defines it not as digital, but as one that is breaking boundaries. Which makes sense given the wide variety of aesthetics and techniques in our scene. This is one of the best definitions I have read yet.
Now Media@nowmedia

Digital art has spent years arguing over labels. NFTs. Crypto art. AI art. Just art. A new op-ed by curator @madam_selkie argues the movement’s real defining trait is the network itself: a constantly evolving mix of mediums shaped by life online. Read below ↓

@NFTYGiFY @chrisgranneberg @Maniinng One of the other "hacks" I did to non-svg gifs was have the first frame be my favorite frame of the entire animation so if it was printed, or the animation was stripped, at least it would be the coolest frame.

@VanArman @chrisgranneberg @Maniinng i worry about that too, but here we are tripping over our own feet trying to appease the marketplace gods. was hoping these large gifs could side step the svg packing but it seems i can't win. glad i realized the webp thing in time.

Appreciation post to @Maniinng besides being an artist I admire and fren he's such a helpful dude who has provided some tools that make it super easy to mint fully on-chain art. He has 1 tool on his website (check his bio) where you can quickly drop a gif and export it as an SVG. The reason you want an SVG vs a gif is because it scales in relation to your display and a larger gif is not affordable to mint fully on-chain. For example, this 8 frame 8 color 128x128 gif is 33.6 kbs at only 1280x1280 the file size grows to 712 kbs not allowing me to mint it unless I want to spend a shit ton of eth. When I drop this 128x128 gif in Manings tool to convert to an SVG, the file size grows from 33.6 kbs to 45.4 kbs, then MM said it would cost about $60 to mint but I set it as a low priority and it minted for just about $3 a minute later, it would have been a lot more as a small 1280x1280 gif even with gwei so low (minted on diid's tool efficax) I encourage anyone interested in fully on-chain or pixel art to check out @Maniinng tools on his website

@bryanbrinkman @tinoch yeah its exactly this. 1/1 if you feel like being a patron that goes above and beyond for a favorite artist. But most fans a 1/1/x is just perfect.

I used to believe 1/1 art held the ultimate value because I'm the only one who owns it. But after years in this space, I've changed my mind. I now see and appreciate far more intrinsic value in editions. Each collector owns their own specific edition. But you don't just own "yours", you share the joy, the vibe and the story with the other collectors who have the same affection for the work. That shared experience builds real community. Relationships form between collectors, deeper bonds grow with the artist, and a genuine support network emerges. Don't get me wrong: I still love the singular magic of a 1/1. That uniqueness hits different. But editions? I personally think they're more fun, more dynamic, more alive. You get to be part of something bigger than yourself. I guess that's the power of network effects in art, when ownership multiplies connection instead of isolating it. What do you think?

@WGMeets @sunnysangwan I thing botto has always been very clear that botto is not autonomous but the DAO behind it. And the DAO is of course human. When has botto said it was an autonomous AI artist? I know botto enthusiasts have said that, but I dont think the project has ever made that claim.

@VanArman @sunnysangwan Isn’t that what Botto does? There’s no sole artist behind it, it’s votes and code.

Can AI Art be good without a human artist behind it? Had this interesting exchange with GROK and @sunnysangwan as we explored angles.
Sunny@sunnysangwan

@VanArman Agree and disagree. Most humanity doesn’t care about the human behind the arts currently. So, if humanity itself is “shallow” and vain, why would AI generated audio visuals “feel” hollow.
