Artemis II has reached its maximum distance from Earth.
On the far side of the Moon, 252,756 miles away, Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy have now traveled farther from Earth than any humans in history and now begin their journey home. Before they left, they said they hoped this mission would be forgotten, but it will be remembered as the moment people started to believe that America can once again do the near-impossible and change the world.
Congratulations to this incredible crew and the entire NASA team, our international and commercial partners, but this mission isn’t over until they’re under safe parachutes, splashing down into the Pacific.

@DJSnM Apparently, from the videos, you can see smoke from them while sliding out.
The theory is the paint smoking from the heat of the plume.

The moment you realise your engines and thrusters worked exactly as they should.
"We know every bit of the European Service Module, down to the last sensor. Our mission is to safely bring four astronauts to the Moon and back to their families on Earth,” says Michael Flach, orbital propulsion subsystem architect at @AirbusSpace.

I know a lot of space fans are still on the space coast and planning to go to KSC Visitors center, which is absolutely worth your time.
And as 'Mr Manley' I just want to make it perfectly clear that it's perfectly acceptable to get teary eyed when visiting Atlantis.
(but if you're really sensitive about your masculinity or, just don't have time for the big reveal you can always enter via the gift shop to soften the impact)

This image perfectly demonstrates just how thin and fragile our atmosphere is

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

This looks like it's a daytime shot, but, it's actually taken from the dark side of Earth, with the planet illuminated by moonlight. This lets faint details like the aurora, stars and the sodium layer show up without over exposing the planet.
