@JamesPiercey11 @jerzmaster Sengun likely in the trade but ya tricky fit between Giannis and either. Would also by lying if i said Wemby wasn’t a big part of my calculus. Would rather be peaking while Wemby still has games where he shoots 30% FG / 0-8 3FG vs when he’s firmly in his Jordan/Jabbar era.

@JamesPiercey11 @jerzmaster True but in my eyes we are a 1A or 1B away right now and that’s only for the next 2 years. Play the bird in hand and go all in to compete now while KD is still this guy.

@vee_kTX @jerzmaster I agree, but the risk also extends to just trading the wrong guys - ie, say Washington was maybe a 1A away and traded Avdija in a package for, idk, Embiid, that would look bad rn

@JamesPiercey11 @jerzmaster But who is a 1A or 1B on a title contender here? Kidd and Brunson? Also Dallas didn’t give up on Kidd because he hadn’t shown promise. He was ROY, all star in second year, etc. That was for off court stuff.

@asoukuptx @JamesPiercey11 Agree with this and would also add that everyone knew the Halliburton trade was a mistake. Harden was a financial decision for OKC. I don’t think any of our guys have shown as much. If there’s a deal for Giannis out there…

Something I've thought about if the OKC series doesn't go the way San Antonio hopes is De'Aaron Fox for Kevin Durant. Rockets get a point guard. Spurs solve their glut, turn Fox's four-year max into KD's two-year sub-max, and KD gets to replace Harrison Barnes again.

Museums/theater seats are such an old school way to define culture. A city’s culture has a lot more to do with the unique aspects of living there on a daily basis. What are the unique events, cuisines, etc that you would encounter walking around on a random Saturday afternoon?

Far be it for me to defend Dallas, but 9 times out of 10, the people who claim Dallas lacks culture rarely if ever step inside an art museum or gallery, or have any sort of cultural discernment. I don’t know if this person falls in that category, but from what I’ve seen most do.

@RedNinetyFour I think you’re overstating the challenge. We’d out talent a lot of the league and I’m confident KD and Giannis would figure out how to play with each other. Less confident re: the fit with Amen but we already have that challenge with Sengun anyway.

I’d just run it back next year honestly. We’ll be much better with Fred and Adams. It’s going to be too difficult to build a roster around Giannis with limited financial flexibility.

@RooshWilliams Overall yes but it would be kinda relieving to ditch this 2 timeline idea. We didn’t get the luck or as many assets as OKC or SAS so we need to pick a lane. Could put together a really really good team for the next 2 years. Next 5-10 after that could suck but 🤷‍♂️

Sengun has fallen flat way too many times. Amen Thompson is not a #1 or a #2 option on a contender. Reed Sheppard has a very long way to go. Jabari Smith and Tari Eason are role players. This is the reality.

@RedNinetyFour All in. I'm keeping KD + Amen and getting aggressive with picks and everyone else. KD is the only player on the team that can be a top 5 player on a given day and you're dead in the water w/o one of those.

Lot of discussion on what the Rockets should do next once they’re bounced from this thing. There will be plenty of time to discuss in the offseason, but right now, I think I’d just run it back with moves at the margins (something Rafael hasn’t shown he can do, unfortunately). Many of you have advocated taking a step back, which I think I could be convinced on depending on whether it could land us in this draft. But to me, if Fred is coming back next year regardless, you kind of just have to go for it with him, Adams, and KD. You lose nothing and you know we’ll at least be really good, with KD still likely All-NBA. I don’t know when and if you will ever have a player this good on the roster (which is what made this season so infuriating), so you kind of have to go for it. Even if you don’t win the title (the 90% or more likely outcome) at least your young guys gain high leverage experience. I don’t know.
