@PompyAuRa @steelixyourgal what if a developer patches something because it ended up being more powerful than their initial vision it is very common for devs to pick and choose what to address based on what they think should or shouldn't be a certain level of "good"

@steelixyourgal Yes I know. I'm saying all those popular competitive games are shit and the devs don't believe in their own creative visions. They cave to fan response and allow unskilled players who's feedback they should be ignoring to ruin their game.

Anyone who thinks Pokémon shouldn’t do balance patches is misguided. Every other (serious) E-Sport does it! If 4 Pokémon are seeing +50% usage there is a problem!

@paledoptera In Chinese novels I've read that if someone is so unreachable there's no use in feeling envy, but if they look within reach envy will flourish So, because indie projects are something that sounds like "it could have been me but I didn't have a chance" a lot of it is bitter envy

the biggest problem with art as a whole right now is people treat indie artists as soulless megacorporations and people treat soulless megacorporations like indie artists

@CrusaderWatch I'm surprised more people don't do what my parents did: ask their kids what they'd like and give it to them while they are still alive. Some stuff they were still using but most they were glad to give to the child or grandchild who most valued it and be there to see them light up

Back when I was in private practice doing EP/Probate work, one of the biggest disconnects I noticed between the old people coming in to do wills and the children coming in to have wills processed was the attitude towards the Stuff

“No, you don’t understand, boomers are actually really frugal, they never eat out and always pack a lunch, they definitely never do anything stupid with their disposable income, also their houses are full of consumer products that they’ve hoarded over the years for some reason.”

@ZhugeEX I wonder how much of this is down to America's tech industry being far more unpopular than (I assume) their Chinese counterparts

@ricktheposter @LegoKingo Even better, it's "the incest one" that isn't actually incestual but no one knows that it's not because you need to 100% complete the game to get the alternate ending dialogue that reveals it's not. And obviously no one who beat the game wanted to put themselves through that.

Probably the worst game Annapurna has published is Twelve Minutes. Horrible stuff, genuinely insane how it managed to waste one of the most home-run game concepts ever lol

@TNOQuoProQuid When I did computer science they had a lab with computers and no internet so people couldn't google stuff. Uni's are dragging their feet but there seems to be a pretty simple solution here.

🚨 University professors have been saying AI is completely destroying learning and that we'll soon have an AI-powered, semi-illiterate workforce. Here's a glimpse into the educational apocalypse: "Sarah, a freshman at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, said she first used ChatGPT to cheat during the spring semester of her final year of high school. (...) After getting acquainted with the chatbot, Sarah used it for all her classes: Indigenous studies, law, English, and a “hippie farming class” called Green Industries. “My grades were amazing,” she said. “It changed my life.” Sarah continued to use AI when she started college this past fall. Why wouldn’t she? Rarely did she sit in class and not see other students’ laptops open to ChatGPT. Toward the end of the semester, she began to think she might be dependent on the website. She already considered herself addicted to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Reddit, where she writes under the username maybeimnotsmart. “I spend so much time on TikTok,” she said. “Hours and hours, until my eyes start hurting, which makes it hard to plan and do my schoolwork. With ChatGPT, I can write an essay in two hours that normally takes 12.” - "By November, Williams estimated that at least half of his students were using AI to write their papers. Attempts at accountability were pointless. Williams had no faith in AI detectors, and the professor teaching the class instructed him not to fail individual papers, even the clearly AI-smoothed ones. “Every time I brought it up with the professor, I got the sense he was underestimating the power of ChatGPT, and the departmental stance was, ‘Well, it’s a slippery slope, and we can’t really prove they’re using AI,’” Williams said. “I was told to grade based on what the essay would’ve gotten if it were a ‘true attempt at a paper.’ So I was grading people on their ability to use ChatGPT.” - AI in education is a serious topic, and many schools and universities are blindly jumping into the "AI-first" wave without considering short and long-term consequences. It would be great to hear more from teachers and educators to understand potential solutions. This might be a great opportunity for rethinking the education system and how students are assessed. - 👉 Link to the full article below. 👉 To learn more about AI's legal and ethical challenges, join my newsletter's 94,700+ subscribers (link below).
