@rcwhiteley @chrysb @cursor_ai Claude also subsidies tokens so you’re getting a ton more value using them over using the same model wrapped by a 3rd party.

@chrysb @cursor_ai How is it that the costs are so different? I don't understand it technically. From what I read, Claude Code uses less context.

i don't see how @cursor_ai survives - for $200/mo, you can essentially get unlimited usage on claude / codex that same usage would cost thousands on cursor even if cursor harness is better, the price difference is just wild

The “good/bad founder comms” debate misses the point. What we’re watching is the early formation of a cult-of-personality. Roy is becoming the Gen Z symbol of defiance, embodying what many founders secretly wish they had the courage to say. Ppl gravitate towards figures like this bc they express impulses others suppress. Whether Cluely succeeds or fails is secondary. Products can be copied. Symbols can’t.

@fahdananta this is most of big tech and directors/senior leadership too. useless outside of the insulated four walls they operate in, could not execute outside of those confines.

This is pretty spot on. I find that a lot of SF-style tech culture is: 1. Pushing every title, role, and accolade to its outermost framing. Basically lying with a grain of truth 2. Knowing how to sound smart because they have been proximate to successful things and can pattern match. When pressed they dont have depth and can’t actually execute. I hate this archetype, it’s low integrity and just miserable to be around once you realize these ppl have no clue how to execute. They can only speak in stories and aphorisms and just continue to fail up because they’re well connected

Bro, I feel the same and I used to work there... I can't quite put my finger on it but I felt like there was a level of craftsmanship and care in the era I worked there. But I'm extremely biased. When I was working on the early iOS teams and Watch teams, the user base was extremely tiny to where it is now. At that time Tim Cook was taking over, iPad Mini had just come out, and iPhones were going to get an extra row of icons because they were becoming taller. Now they have many more products.

@arvidkahl This is so unnecessary imo. This should all be inferred dynamically from the codebase index itself.

I have a platform-docs.md document in my codebase, which describes every single UI screen and workflow inside Podscan. I use it to help Claude Code make sense of the product and generate docs for it. It’s the result of recording a 1h walkthrough. Explained every single button, had the AI condense it into a full document. But how do I keep up with changes? New features, adjusted screens. Well, it turns out if you task Claude Code with checking the file change date of that .md file, go through every line in there, check if that component has been changed in a git commit since the last time we updated it, and then update the doc, you can automate most of this. Tried that earlier today, and was blown away. It caught buttons being moved, adjusted changed workflows, and added features that I had forgotten I implemented. Now, it’s a Claude command I can run once a week. That platform doc is the distilled knowledge of my product that even I don’t have without checking things out. And it makes AI agents SO effective (if you add it to your prompts for reference).

Sad to see this, @cursor_ai is a great product and team Founder breakup is the #1 reason for why startups fail. Not runway, not pmf, its the founders giving up. A successful company is defined by longevity, not by hockey stick growth. Thats why Chad IDE till the moon. @zzzbuggg and I have been best friends since we were 14 — longest tenured friendship in the current YC batch. We are aligned.

The AWS outage has impacted some of our users since last night, disrupting their sleep. That is not the experience we want to provide and I want to apologize for it. We are taking two main actions: 1) We are restoring all the features as AWS comes back. All devices are currently working, with some experiencing data processing delays. 2) We are currently outage-proofing your Pod experience and we will be working tonight-24/7 until that is done. More updates soon.

Here are two very important charts about the current AI boom. Chart 1: Distribution Matters Open AI is still the clear leader but, interestingly, they are loosing percentage share as the market grows. This is normal for a category leader but it’s curious who they are losing share to. It’s not really to other startups but incumbents with existing, massive distribution. This means that Google has a huge runway ahead of itself as their models and services become better. It also means that when/if Meta gets their act together, they will be able to gain share quickly. Lastly, it likely means that xAI will need to license Grok aggressively OR acquire existing distribution for their models - Snapchat, Pinterest etc. Chart 2: Coding Agents are Slopware App-crappers It should be concerning that this category is shrinking. I think the reason why is obvious but we aren’t allowed to talk about it. The reason is vibe coding is a joke. It is deeply unserious and these tools aren’t delivering when they encounter real world complexity (building quick demos isn’t complex) in any meaningful enterprise. Hence people try, pay, churn. This trend is not good.

This whole stay and fight thing… I’m not giving up on the UK. My aim over the next year is to become a bellend YouTuber that just hammers home the problems so people actually might understand them even more than just the surface level. But I can do that from somewhere cheaper. So I can save up for my death moon laser when we need to invade France again.
