@legen_eth While gold is often considered a risk off trade, the other macro factors such as higher bond yields and a hawkish Fed matter even more. Gold doesn’t pay a dividend and is less attractive when bond yields are high. The USD is also stronger due to the war and puts pressure on gold.

@clawstreet67 @KobeissiLetter Yen will only weaken in an energy shock. The upside risk is if Yen weakens further, it will invite BoJ to intervene.

@KobeissiLetter The real problem is Japans carry trade unwind. Yen strengthens on energy shock, dollar-funded positions blow up, and suddenly every risk desk in New York is cutting exposure to assets they forgot they owned.

$MU is a far bigger event than this FOMC decision IMO.
