The question I get almost every single day in my DMs: what editing software do you use? I keep repeating the same answer. I work on Final Cut Pro 12. But believe it or not, it is never about the software. Years ago I asked my mentor the same question. His answer stayed with me. The software doesn’t matter. It will always be about the cuts. Everything else comes later. In simple terms, editing is just cut and paste. Then you start adding ingredients like emotion, ambience, music and sound effects. But if your basics are not clear, no editing software can save the edit.
