Building products today is honestly much easier than it was 3–4 years ago. The number of mobile apps will explode (a lot). But most of them will flop and nobody will ever know they existed. Because the hardest part is no longer building. It’s distribution and marketing. If nobody knows about your product, then it’s not a good product. You just think it is. 🥴

superwall is such an incredible product man it is my money making partner when you see with your own eyes how testing different prices/verbiage/visuals across different audience segments… can literally TRIPLE conversions and LTVs you will never *not* be A/B testing

going viral sounds fun - but can be a nightmare. here is my experience going viral twice in the wrong market ⬇️ 2 of my posts on 2 different accounts hit ~100k views. they were US accounts, but went viral in other countries. 1 of those posts got me over 1k followers on one account without leading to any meaningful conversions. then, because of the new followers, tiktok basically first pushed my content to those smaller countries. i tried a ton but couldn't retarget the US audience successfully, and had to eventually abandon both these accounts. so, smaller viewership but in the right country is much better.
Alex Nguyen@alexcooldev

I have a post that’s been going viral for 2 days, reaching 135k views and generating more than 40 trials + sales, but I’m not too happy because only 13% of the audience is from the US, so I think the trial-to-paid conversion rate won’t be that high. For me, 5 posts with 25k views each but with 95%+ US audience are better than this viral one 🥴

@alexcooldev One of my apps does well in the UK. I just warmed up a new TikTok account on a new phone set up in the US. Instant regret pro max.

I successfully warmed up accounts targeting a new market with spending power potentially comparable to the US. Honestly, if your app has strong conversion rates in markets outside the US, try targeting those markets instead, the shadowban rate is usually much lower, way lower than the US. 😌

Even though the US is my main revenue source, honestly if you expand your content to other countries, the conversion rate may not be as high as the US but it’s still solid. Just choose countries with high GDP per capita and PPP where people are willing to spend money. This is actually very easy to control with TikTok.

People stay stuck on X while missing 90% of the customers out there on other platforms. Diversify your distribution channels. - For B2C mobile apps: TikTok and IG. - For SaaS: Facebook actually works. Boomers, Gen X can be better customers for SaaS and AI-native products than younger people. They’re less tech-savvy, so if your product solves a real problem in a simple way, they’re willing to pay for it and they usually have more money too.

RevenueCat and Adapty have fiscal calendars that show not just the payment date, but also the exact period Apple uses to calculate each payout. Next payment is June 4 (covering March 29 - May 2). Very useful 👏

Accessibility is NOT optional. The event organised by Apple in Bengaluru on accessibility was enlightening in many ways. It’s crazy how we overlook accessibility or usually it isn’t on our go-to but it is supposed to the default and right from ideation. So my goal this month: update my apps to make it much more “accessible” for everyone. And guess what, got to also meet @align_all and the philosophy behind their app’s color and their thought process behind the overall design while keeping relevant and suitable for all kinds of users including the ones with disabilities.

I’ve said this a lot: my goal is to build 10 apps making $5k/month each, fully organic. No paid ads, no paid UGC creators. So far: > 1st app hit $19k/month (stopped grow) > 2nd app is already at $7k+/month (still growing) Pure organic marketing usually plateaus under ~$20k/month. To scale bigger, you eventually need paid ads or paid UGC creators. So instead of scaling ad spend, I scale the number of apps to keep profit high. Later I’ll pick the app with the best retention/conversion and scale it hard with paid marketing. I’m just a solo indie hacker who started by losing $20k+, so profit and survival came first. 🥴

@alexcooldev why keep creating new apps instead of doubling down on the ones that are working? what's your mental model behind this?

I'm 19 years old. At 16 I sold my unblocked gaming website for $100k. At 18 I sold Cal AI while at $40M ARR. Now, my co just hit $300K MRR a month after launch. The most important lesson I've learned to be successful in consumer is to dumb everything down. 1) Demonstrate the value of your product in 3 seconds or less in any advertising material. 2) Write messaging as if you are talking to a 3rd grader. 3) Make buttons so obvious that you can't get lost. The is the key concept that makes apps viral and also high converting.

In December I went through an episode of depression There is a lot of personal issues going on in life which I won't talk about publicly I've since been seeing a psychologist and have been prescribed SSRI's They made me numb, lethargic and made me put on a bunch of weight really quickly. I couldn't concentrate on building things and just wanted to sleep all the time. Which made me feel even worse. The opposite outcome that I wanted On top of that, some of the screening questionnaires I did show I have an "over-inflated" sense of my own importance. Whatever that means. The questionnaires asked things like "do you think your work has a high impact on others?", etc. But I answered them truthfully. I think my work *does* have an impact on others by nature And.. is that actually a bad thing? The medical system seems to want to put a label on it. The whole experience has been really annoying and dumb. Meanwhile the best thing that has worked for me is prioritising walks in nature every day. Leaving my phone at home, getting out of the house and just going for a hike each day for 20 mins. That clears my mind, helps me reset, and keeps me grounded more than anything.

My app just hit $329 MRR in 2 months - 97 active subscriptions - $652 in revenue (last 28 days) - $1,160 total revenue Pretty happy with the progress so far. Time to push for $500 MRR 💪

MY APP JUST PASSED $250 MRR 🤯 Almost at 100 subscribers and just a few dollars away from hitting $900 in total revenue in under 2 months. Just submitted a major app update for review, now it’s time to go all-in again on organic content and start testing my first ads 🔥

I spent 1 week making TikToks. Then I stopped. That 1 TikTok account I made has been making me $2,000+/month for 6 months straight. Here's exactly how to do it 👇
