Gold Stuck in Dubai Is Being Sold at a Discount as War Widens
Gold is being offered at a steep discount in Dubai, as the war in the Middle East grounds flights and hampers suppliers’ ability to move bullion out of the key trading hub.
Many buyers have stepped back from new orders, unwilling to pay exceptionally high shipping and insurance costs with no guarantee of prompt delivery. As a result, rather than paying indefinitely for storage and funding, traders are offering discounts of as much as $30 an ounce to the global benchmark in London, according to people with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be named discussing market information.
Many shipments remained stranded on Friday, the people said, although some bullion had been loaded onto flights leaving Dubai from the middle of this week. (Bloomberg)

RWAs drive APY on USDC on @solana - now at 6% 🚀

USDC lending APY has been surprisingly high recently on @kamino. no incentives, no locked rewards. 6% APY in the middle of a bear market. the reason? there's high demand for looping across RWA markets, increasing USDC borrows. the risk is different though, quick breakdown. RWAs are not as liquid or as battle-tested as BTC, ETH or SOL. when you lend USDC in the main market for *1.5% APY*, you're lending against highly liquid assets and the bet is mostly on @kamino liquidations clearing fast. historically there’s been no bad debt. but when the collateral depends on real-estate credit or reinsurance underwriting, a black swan can look different: liquidity can be thinner, and in an extreme move lenders could end up indirectly exposed if liquidations don’t clear fast enough. that’s the trade-off when lending into RWA-focused vaults like the one curated by @Rockaway_X. you’re earning more, but taking more risk (still less risk than buying the RWA, and even less than leveraging it). @kamino’s key word is transparency: vault allocations are visible anytime, so it’s always clear what your USDC is actually funding. it’s up to you to decide if the extra APY fits your risk profile. transparent, open source defi.
