Tonight, @Keir_Starmer and @wesstreeting have decided to cut the number of offered specialist training jobs for doctors. Doctors need these jobs to train to become the specialist Consultants and GPs of the future that the NHS so desperately needs. Instead, this Government has decided to make it harder for you to see a specialist and is effectively holding doctors’ jobs hostage. We are already an under-doctored country compared to other OECD countries. In 2025, around 40,000 doctors applied for just 10,000 speciality training jobs. That means tens of thousands of qualified doctors ready to train, ready to work, and ready to treat patients are being turned away every year. The Government can train more specialist doctors when they want to. They are simply choosing not to. Remember this the next time you can’t get an appointment or your surgery is delayed.

British football pyramid is unmatched in its level of local support & enthusiasm. You'll find local club support & memorabilia being passed down through multiple generations even in tiny villages five tiers down the hierarchy. India doesn't have anything remotely close to this.

The problem with Inzamam-ul-Haq's running between wickets is that he never actually called, he merely initiated a conversation. And who knew how that particular conversation would go. 92 run outs in 499 international games. He was a remarkably fair man, ran himself out 46 times and ran his partner out exactly the same number of times. But running aside, he was a peerless batter who I first remember watching when, as a teenager, he dismembered the NZ attack in the 1992 World Cup semi-final. 56 today. Inshallah, the boy played well.

With all due respect, I have to disagree. The authorities here in Dubai have been incredibly supportive through a very difficult situation. From the moment things escalated, we were taken care of with genuine concern and efficiency. We were provided a hotel room and clearly informed that until we are able to safely travel back, everything is being taken care of and covered. That reassurance alone brought a huge sense of calm. At every step, we have felt safe and looked after. The empathy being shown here is honestly out of this world. Every single person, from Emirates staff to immigration officials and the ground teams at the airport has gone above and beyond to help people who are stranded. They are doing everything in their power to look after every individual affected, and that deserves respect and appreciation.

No. @Emirates - and other airlines - are not doing NEARLY enough to allow people to return home. Passengers stranded in Europe are asked to wait days. Those in the Middle East are not given reliable updates. This is sham online PR with no relief to customers on the ground.
